Motorola Milestone 18.33 pcm @ Buymobilephones

This seems a very good deal for a top android phone. £20 a month over 18months with 100 minutes 100 text unlimited internet + 3 months half price so works out at £18.33 a month.

Discount is by redemption, so is not a 100 percent one.

£20 a month for 100+100 is horrible. Can get the newer better desire for that range.

please tell me where I can get a desire for free for £20 a month on a 18 month contract!

The desire is a bit better because it has the faster 1gig snap dragon processer but for the price difference it’s not worth it. On performance, the milestone can run anything the desire can.

Cheapest I've found this phone without a contract is on play.com £359.99 so cheaper on contract :)

if your going to vote it cold please say why!

voted hot! if u are voting cold tell us where you can get a better deal
#6
Hot from me... second best Android handset IMO, best if you want a keyboard
#7
Cold --- once you go over your 100 mins it 30p per minute!

So if you use 200 mins its actually going to cost you £50 quid +internet charges!

The deal is for 100 minutes, not, 'what might happen if you go over 100 minutes'.

Very good phone, excellent deal. Have some heat.

To any prospective buyers though beware; The qwerty keyboard isn't as good as you may be expecting. The keys dont travel very far at all and there are some spacing issues when means typing fast and accurately can de difficult.

Very good phone though, and has been upgraded to 2.1 now.

Has anyone dealt with this company before?

some would argue that milestone is better as it has a QWERTY keypad

and its android not andriod.

to be fair this is the cheapest deal i seen, elsewhere wanted £35 a month.

so this deal is HOT

its on T mobile, includes a free booster so you must use that for your free internet if its not included, but i think I read somewhere that T mobile are going to offer android users free internet as standard as well as another booster.

Defo hot!!
this handset's a gem and in my opinion better than the desire .
I've had both phones on loan and the desires amoled screen view in direct sunlight is dire!
the desire casing is pretty much plastic all round apart from the pink?/brown trim around the screen area. I've used htc handsets for 10 years from their days manufacturing windows classic mobile devices through spv's , ipaq's & MDA's in the early 2000's to their present day standalone incarnate the HTC..and believe me the build quality is not the same
Granted the desire runs at 1GHz while the motorola goes in at 550 MHz .. . The Motorola however is capable of running at over 1GHz ( 1.3 GHz to be precise) but Motorola in their wisdom reduced the clock speed to improve battery life & and also locked down the bootloader for the EU version to prevent overclocking. You can at the moment overclock the US version so presumably it's only a question of time before the UK version is sped up too.
To be honest the motorola runs quite fast enough with a decent battery life and none of the HTC tat & eye candy.. I.E YOU'RE RUNNING A STOCK ANDROID ROM WHICH GETS THINGS DONE FASTER & AND ALSO DOES NOT PLACE A STRAIN ON BATTERY POWER
The Milestone also sports SEPARATE equalizers built in for enhancing voice calls SEPARATELY & listening to music SEPARATELY !
The phone's quality is superb ..the body is practically all metal even the battery door ..and it feels very solid in your hand . The slideout keyboard snaps open and shut firmly with absolutely no wobble! I've very large hands & have no trouble with the slideout KB
To the point the only saving grace for the Desire is it's 1Ghz processor although I find the HTCLegend to be of better build quality ( aluminium unibody) albeit slower
The handset is fantastic & I don't know where Motorola went wrong with the marketing in Europe...I think it might have to do with licensing the droid label from Lucas films ..so they could not promote it over here as droid
Car phone warehouse actually have one each of the Motorola handset sitting in their warehouses since december 09 although it says coming soon in the recent brochures! You definitely won't go wrong with the Milestone .. I mean the US version (Droid) actually outsold the Iphone for the first time in the first 74 day sales benchmark test! .. in true idiot proof ( motorola for dummies style) the phone has labels ( sticker) to show where the mouth piece , speaker , keyboard, micro usb charger port , volume buttons etc are located..I think this carried over from the US marketing!
Anyway Nuff said

Finally the dock app which turns the phone screen into bedside a clock ( via two magnets on the back of the dock)is fantastic. I have got a cock crow for my wake up alarm .. very very loud and irritating. Lol
Yeah defo get a the motorola Milestone . You won't be disappointed!! Pop into a carphone to have a play with one . There's bound to be one buried in their stock somewhere as the phone was never given a chance
Nuff said!

Hmmm very interesting. I'd discounted the Milestone even though I did want a keyboard and I had heard they weren't that good, but this is making me wonder. I was looking at the Nexus One or Desire but you can get some good deals on the Milestone and now it's getting Android 2.1
Hmmm! This has made my decision even harder!
Thanks for the info - I've added heat and rep to the deal and repped everyone who has added a helpful comment, cheers.

I'm really interested in this deal and intrigued as to how the OP's post has got the phone free. By going on the website direct the phone is 79.99 for the 18 months £20 contract, so my attempt at going for the same contract price but on 24 months for more mins (I need more than 100) has failed!

Voted hot!

bought mine outright for £280.
my mate liked mine so much she also got it via orange upgrade via CPW
...initially wanted £99 for the handset, but after phoning up got she it for free!
Trust me this phone's build-quality/ performance is really understated
Even some CPW staff slate it without having opened the box to take the handset out to play.
Make sure you install aTrackDog - An Android Applications Version Tracker...keeps you uptodate with the latest version of apps you've already installed on the phone ..even lets you know before the updates go out officially!

currently i've got installed;
Atrackdog
3d compass (Augmented reality .. with small rotating map of local area )
juice defender (although you dont need it as battery optimised better than HTCDesire)
Advanced task killer
Astro ( backing up .apk apps to memory card)
handcent (highly customisable sms viewer app ..integrates TTS)
Sprite Migrate (good for moving contacts from other platforms namely nokia symbian, B'berry winmob)
RMaps ( rotating maps like google maps on the Iphone and several others hiking ,cycling specific maps
..Google moved the auto rotation feature to streetview-only in the more recent map updates
RMaps however returns you to the flat view with the map auto rotating with your orientation etc)
Layar
dolphin browser
Skyfire
barcode Scanner
3D Gallery ripped from Desire)
Shapewriter keyboard (swype-esqe input
SlideIT
Smart Keyboard Pro
Switch 2G/3g
TTS extended service
VibraSeq ( make your phone create beats with the vibrafunction)
Skyscape ( for useful medical specialities)

and loads more

Android Market is definitely a serious alternative to the Iphone appstore ...over 30000 apps & rising

@ darklight

rep for this review

Ive been considering the Milestone for some time now but Ive been unable to play with a live model, only a dummy case - it felt solid.
Having played with a Nexus One I would like one but to import it comes at a price, at least I know vanilla android is fine. Sense is nice but isnt essential.

Id buy one outright and use it with my O2 simplicty sim, just need to find the settings to make everything work first.......
What network you on darklight?

Hiya, I'm on vodafone sim-only...so it was just a case of popping my sim in there & it auto configured itself.
first time you insert a sim in you get an auto congfig menu which will pull in the settings OTA.
I know for a fact that the networks cannot send you the config settings via SMS as most do not have that particular phone in their inventory.
Orange who sell the little brother DEXT exclusively can send you the settings for that handset which should work on the Milestone for their network
All networks however should be happy to email setup instructions across
..so no worries there
