Think if you're not desperate to change from your current phone, you'd be better off waiting for the NEWER new generation of the Moto G to be released. Will be priced at the same point as well.

Sort of agree it just depends on how well ASUSs modifications to android are or if they're terrible and make the phone unusable (I think they'll be OK though), I have the moto g 2nd gen now and would recommend it, but I'm going to keep my eye on the zenfone 2 I'm definitely interested in the 5.5inch screen, but it will be the lower speced version of the zenfone 2 that will match the moto g 2gens price so we'll have to wait and see.

Also march is 2 months away you can always wait longer for a better phone if you need one now then you need one now.

If there's anything Motorola team proved before being sold to lenovo is that they can keep their promise on delivering Android updates on a timely manner unlike other brands that focus on releasing fifty versions of hardware full of their useless bloatwares that ruins the Android experience.

Referred to as a new variant - it's the 5inch model with 8 megapixel camera etc also improved battery and 4G. Motorola "accidently" leaked the specs see below.

Ace phone, had mine a couple of weeks and still can't put it down. Paid a bit less than this on Amazon when it was £129.95 less the £5 mastercard promotion, but this is a still a good price.
Not had any major issues with it all, ie no rebooting or freezing. Dual sim is brilliant, have a sim for cheap data and a my normal sim for calls / business. It works seamlessly between them.
Only a couple things I find annoying:
The pull down menu it doesn't have the wifi / data / rotate etc toggles, does anyone know how to enable them or is this a kitkat thing?
Is there a way to make the icons smaller? It's a big screen so you should be able to fit loads on there, but I can't even get as many on my homescreens as my old 4inch Y300.

Agree with other posters about the upcoming Asus Zenphone, but it's not out yet and is unlikely to be as cheap as this, so at the moment I'm not sure anything can touch it at this price, and won't for some time.

Got a 1st Gen Moto G but thinking hard about getting the 2nd Gen for the wife. Great phone (not the best at anything perhaps, but does everything competently at a bargain price).

If you want to customise things without having to do any of the rooting business, get a new launcher (the app that controls the general appearance of your phone). I'd recommend Nova Launcher which lets you do all sorts of things, like add more home screens and loads more. I'm pretty sure you can change app icon size if you pay for the full version.

Here's the free version

Argos apparently listed new versions of Moto G and Moto E yesterday, then pulled them down

Over Air Update to Android 5.02 Lolipop released today in the UK, for Moto G 2014. Smooth Upgrade, works well so far, nothing obvious yet in terms of bugs, but early days. Speedwise, seems just as fast as before.
