hot deal but whats with all the deal bombing here? if another phone is more desirable to you then perhaps a new deal about said phone should be created?

What's wrong with pointing out that for a little extra you can get the newer model,a large number of people don't even realise that there is a newer version out.

The op said that they were looking to buy this phone as a gift and maybe my suggestion could be useful to them.IM not trying to ruin someone's deal,I'm just trying to offer some advice that might help the op out in buying a handset.

If 4G isn't a big deal then you'd be better off paying out a little extra for this one.its the latest version with a 5 inch screen and much better camera.

The company is based in America so although its sent from Amazon UK it is probably the US model which may affect the warranty should an issue arise. Just something to bear in mind.

This 5 inch one you mention is cheaper in tesco. http://www.tesco.com/direct/motorola-moto-g-2nd-gen-black/759-7577.prd?sc_cmp=tp4_aff_1018132

It says it is fulfilled by Amazon. What does that mean exactly.

This means that the company you are buying it from have already sent the stock to Amazon (who will then send it to you when you buy it).

I thought the 4G and G2 shared the same camera?

It basically comes down to big screen vs. 4G, slightly better battery life and slightly sharper screen.

Either way, they're great phones for the money!

link now points to a contract deal :(

You need to select "phone only".

No the camera on the 4G is a 5mp and an 8mp on the newest version.

Also the new one has stereo speakers like the HTC,dual SIM card slots, and is water resistant.

Ah, my apologies on that one - I thought they'd added the upgraded camera to the 4G

Verified Purchase(What is this?)

This review is from: Moto G 4G SIM-Free Smartphone - Black (8GB) (Wireless Phone)

Phone arrived on time and once sim was cut to fit worked a dream couldn't find a thing wrong. 10 days later no one can hear when I phone them while I can hear them, yet if I use the bluethooth in the car works a treat. I can skype no problem and even used hangouts again no problem. Try to use the phone even in safe as suggested on line no success. this it seems is a common problem with the phone unless it is sorted out very soon I'm sending the phone back as what good is a phone that you can't phone with. I will tell any one getting this phone not too until this glitch is sorted out.

I had the dilemma of 4G vs 3G, and opted for 4G (older model). Glad I did as has made a huge difference for internet and call quality. If you are in a solid 4G area, get the 4G version. camera is adequate, screen is fine but the real beauty is in the Internet when on 4G (and there's no Wi-Fi).

Great buy either way.

I did post a tesco deal this other 5 inch version a few days back but the haters hated and it got cold for some unknown reason. So a reminder of other good similar deals is not wrong if it happens to suit somebody better.

Thankyou very much.

Whichever phone the op decides to buy will be a great gift.

I had the moto g 2nd gen for 2 weeks when I was waiting for the note 4 to be released and to be fair it was a cracking little phone and worth every penny.

damn ...i bought my mrs one of these 4 days ago from Tesco for £149 :(
#25
Do these always update to the latest version of Android? Ie. like the Nexus.
#26
Didn't know it was going so hot, after all the seller is based in US, but it is a good price for a sim free phone :) Actually i cancelled my order as the delivery date might be risky for me as i need it by Saturday latest. Might buy it at Tesco for £125 then unlock it from ebay as i can collect a day later near my house. But still cannot decide, this one or the Moto E as i fear the person would loose it, i know him too well :(

Accidently I enabled the one day delivery free trial. Is it easy to cancel? Then i could order this phone now :) Also is it safe to buy from a US seller? What do you think?

As far as I am aware no network use 4G for calls. I believe calls over 4G are being worked on so being in a good 4G should have no effect on call quality at all.

Great phone for the money

Unless you are desperate for fast internet access on a small screen, I would give this a miss and pick up the dual SIM 5" Moto G. Much, much better value for money.

Yes it will. lollipop 5 will be released shortly.

As it uses pure Android without any bloat ware .

I'm looking at getting the 5in version as I don't really live in a 4G area yet. As I already have a phone that's capable of 4g. I can't decide whether to go for the 5inch Moto G or go for the LG G3S.

I'm currently using the 5" moto g 2nd gen, its duel sim its the bogs dollocks.

my partner has the 3g version of the first gen, the size different is actually surprising for half an inch. she now wants the 2nd gen also. or wait for the 4g 2ng gen. great phone.

Thanks, just managed to drop my 2013 Moto G in a supermarket car park today

Paid 125 yesterday from Tesco but realised I had enough clubcard points to effectively make it free! Going to have a very happy son on Christmas day!

Why didn't they just release one phone with the combined specs of the Moto G 2015 and Moto G 4G!!!!!

Is the 4G going to be compatible with all the UK networks if this is a USA seller?
