Moto Maker website with codes has this at £149 (already unlocked) https://www.motorola.co.uk/products/motomaker/FLEXR10UK so Tesco Mobile + eBay unlock code isn't massively cheaper at about £136 all-in.

Would have expected much bigger discounts by now, bearing in mind the G5 is only 1 month away.

I think they are mixed up with the G4 play that can be £79.

I paid £149 for this and I think its a better phone than my (£300) S5

Tesco are also selling refurbished, unlocked Moto G4s through ebay for £129 with free postage. Is it worth saving a fiver for a refurbished model?

Please check this and tell me because I'm going to buy G4 ( Not play) or S5 to replace my lovely S4. I say Samsung as same size as G4 has bigger Internet and email display because menu , home and return buttons are out side screen . Under different light conditions Samsung should have more colourful, bright and vivid images and video display . My Nexus 5 is dull in front of S4 same screen size but smaller display .

The missus bought this from Tesco a week ago, locked to Tesco. Tried to get it unlocked via eBay - seller came back after 24hrs to say no unlock code available, but to give him another 24hrs. 24hrs later he still couldn't find a code, but did give a full refund. Found a recommendation on giffgaff for another unlocker who came back within the hour with a working unlock code. Search on the giffgaff forums for 'Moto G4 unlock' if struggling to get a code.

If you are voting this cold, it's because you are confusing it with the G4 Play.

old thread but updating for anyone still keeping an eye. despite two Moto g4 from Tesco and one from Argos, we had to give up due to poor call quality with this phone. SIM works fine on other phones, but kept getting disconnected during calls, making calls, voice dropouts. tried new SIM, but still the same. bought a P9 lite instead ... no issues to date. pity as it was a very good device otherwise.

I was thinking of buying the Moto G4 (from John Lewis) in the next few days, but your troubles with it have put me off!
Did you really have the same problems with all 3 handsets?
Where did you buy the P9 lite from and for how much, if you don't mind me asking?
Thanks :)

yes, all 3. have seen similar reports on the lenovo forums. the Tesco models were on the TescoGB software, so we tried Argos which did update to the latest version OTA (Tesco's didn't) but still issues with calls.

Missed all the deals on the p9 lite so had to fork out £220 from Carphone warehouse for an unlocked one. Nice phone, no call issues. We're on giffgaff if that makes any difference.

Just count yourself lucky that you didn't buy directly from Motorola. They refuse to give refunds under any circumstances after 14 days - a blatant flouting of the Consumer Rights' Act.

I would also suggest you research 'ghost touch' if considering the Moto G4 and definitely don't buy directly from Motorola.
