I was going to buy for my dad but it looks like this particular model is only 1gb of ram. Correct me if I'm mistaken.

Snippet below from listing, looks like defo only 1gb ram, bit of a let down considering rest of specs.

Product Description

4Gb according to http://www.gsmarena.com/motorola_moto_g4_plus-8050.php. Even the super-budget Play edition has 2Gb.

I have the G4 non-play/non-plus, and it's a very good phone.

Come to think of it, I think 4Gb RAM is only available in the top model (64/128Gb; can't remember).

In that case I'd avoid. No idea why they'd do a special* edition with only a gig.

The UK version of the G4 Play only has 1GB RAM (paired with 16GB Storage), while the rest of the world gets the 2GB RAM Variant. This is what the Amazon description is referring to.

The standard G4 and 16GB version of the G4 Plus both come with 2GB RAM.

OK no worries it must be a product description error as it does state the g4 plus as shown below.

wow 1gb ram, only 3000mah battery, single sim. £185 exclusive to amazon. bargain.
disclaimer. I did not get this phone for free or at a reduced cost.

TBH, even if this has 2GB ram, its not really enough for Marshmallow or a phone for nearly £200. If I had £200 in my pocket, I'd be looking at a 32GB/3GB Ram LG G3. I've also seen a few Galaxy S6's for this type of money.

It definitely is 2GB RAM. There is no version of the standard G4 or G4 Plus that comes with anything lower than 2GB RAM.

The G4 Play (the cheaper, smaller model) includes 1GB RAM for the UK variant, 2GB RAM if purchased elsewhere.

My "regular" G4 is showing 1.8 gig ram in system which i assume rounds up to 2 gig. This is the twin SIM version brought for £130 recently

Motorola are really confusing people with these models.
Being forced to jump to 64GB to get more than 2GB of RAM is the kind of stunt that Apple pulls. Shame on you.

Second hand from Cash Converters is not really comparable to brand new from Amazon though mate :)

Not bad, I've had the dual sim version for a few months - on a few occasions it's rebooted for no obvious reason (never during a call) and lack of a compass is a pain if you walk and navigate with maps but is fine for car satnav.

Slightly bigger than Moto X Play (which I also have) - performance is near identical, but I honestly prefer the X Play as it's a tad smaller and has a compass.

The biggest reason for me using the Moto G4 Plus dual sim is that both SIMs are 3G at the same time (or 3G+4G) so good for Three users.

Certain models of g4 do have 1gb ram I've had a conversation on chat with amazon all the g4 play are 1gb standard

I have a 'standard' G4 and do not understand that statement. 2GB of memory is fine. No perceivable stutters or pauses and overall i find the G4 a well sorted device. Does everything flawlessly including streaming, chromecast etc. Main difference compared to the 'standard' G4, other than the fingerprint sensor and a slightly enhanced camera, is that you get a fast charger included in the box which will save you £12-£15. So unless any of those features tickle your fancy then might as well go for a deal on the plain G4.

You should be able to unlock it with an EE PAYG sim card - just load it with £10 and fill in the form here (cost will be £8.99):

Lenovo have fired half the staff of Motorola, and announced that Motorola devices won't get monthly security updates. Motorola were good when Google owned them, but I can't recommend them any longer, sadly.

I agree with you. 2GB is plenty. This is not a £600 Galaxy phone. 2GB is perfectly sufficient. I have a Marshmallow phone with 1GB of RAM and it is so smooth. Apps take a while to install but everything functions well enough.

There seems to be some confusion in this thread between the Play and the Plus versions. I have the standard version and as the poster states above, I can confirm that the memory reports as 1.8GB in Settings > Memory. I can't believe the plus version can be less than this.

My concern with 2GB and marshmallow is that the OS is taking much more RAM than in the past. If you keep clearing things you can still have a clean fast device. Leave chrome open in memory with a few pages of Fantasy Premier League and things start to force close in the background. In the days of 32bit Kit Kat, I would never have these issues on my G2. 64bit devices like the Nexus 9 and Nexus 5X are a different story however.

I'm not saying you G4 owners are wrong, I'm just saying the more RAM you have, the longer your device is going to last. If I had £185 in my pocket, I'd be looking for a device with 3GB of RAM even if this means second hand with a warranty.

This is definitely the case at least 2GB RAM. If all G4 without plus is at least 2GB how come G4 plus is 1GB.

modern phones are really only designed to last 2 years so buying an old(er) one wouldn't be my choice.

anyone else experiencing low sound...

When I purchased the Moto G First Gen a few years ago there was a flip door case cover available. Anyone know if you can get this kind of case for this model? I'm after a case that replaces the back panel so it's less bulky and magnetically keeps shut. I haven't had much luck looking for one.

Had this (the white dual sim version) for a week now & I love it. One thing I notice is the 4g data & phone signal is so much better than my old note 3.
