Nice cheap backup phone. Also possibility of £10 quidco.

It would be better to mention plus £10 airtime in the title of your post, lest anyone really believes it's a phone for £4.86 - it isn't - it's a Virgin phone with £10 of Virgin calltime for £14.85! The two are not the same!

But thank you for taking the time to contribute to HUKD nonetheless - it's more than many leeches can be bothered to do!

P.S. It's also a Phone4U deal, not a Motorola deal, even though the phone is a Motorola.

Are you talking about the Motorola F3 ?

This phone is much better than the F3 and uses a GUI similar to the one found in the V3, W377 etc.

most likely as it is being sold on Virgin
#8
Unless p4u are locking them probably comes unlocked as it is not a model that Virgin Mobile usually sell.

I had a few of these from Carphonewarehouse a while back and they were all unlocked.

I've ordered one. Hopefully Quidco tracks, no big deal if not as it seems like a decent basic phone for the price

these deals suck so bloody much. I bought a phone from e2save and it says it comes with £10 airtime i bought it last wednesday and i still DO NOT have it.

Im my view air time is a voucher you get and u scratch to reveal the numbers.

I love it when they fail to put the airtime on. A 2 minute call to your credit card company and you get a £10 chargeback which makes the deal even better especially when the quidco pays up as well.

How does that work then? I thought credit card transactions only cover things costing over £100?

Dont worry ill be contacting trading standards and everyone else i can think off.

You are thinking about Section 75 of the Consumer Credit Act 1974. If a company fails to send you something you can request a chargeback and they usually oblige. The amount for a charge back need not be £100.

Carphone warehouse failed to put £10 credit on to a couple of phones I bought online and I got chargebacks done over the phone without any problems.

I am not sure if this works the same way for Visa debit cards. And bank of scotland are the easiest to deal with almost like paypal and they are hell.

Got mine today. It's been a while since I bought a PAYG + credit from P4u and was a bit alarmed to see...

1) The security seal on phone's box had been cut.

2) The security seal on the PAYG sim card pack had been cut.

I then picked up the letter and invoice that came with it and then found out that they pre-activate it for you so that the £10 is ready to use straight away. It's actually £10 less the cost of the call they made to activate the sim card for you so I ended up with £9.75. They probably do this preactivation thing to guarantee some tiny amount of commission, not sure. Anyway...

To check your balance for free...

1) Call 789

OR

2) Send a text message with the word BALANCE to 789000

OR

3) Register at Virginmobile.co.uk

Yes same with mine they have made a call from it so you do not get £10 airtime, I ended up with £9.81. Ah well will drop them an emails to rectify this otherwise will just do a chargeback.

You're saying that if they don't refund you the 19p that you will call your credit card company to have them reverse the entire £4.85 transaction? :? I've not tried it before but I don't think CC companies do partial amounts (eg 19p) chargebacks if that's what you're thinking.
#26
I paid for £10 so I expect £10 airtime to be on the sim card. I have emailed p4u to request they credit the outstanding 19pence if they don't I will ask my cc provider for a £10 chargeback. Its worth a try, I have got quite a few £10 chargebacks in the past when carphonewarehouse have not put the £10 credit on the phone (even got the quidco).
#27
Sorted the problem out they are refunding me a lot more than the 19p. If you was shortchanged I suggest you email them.

Wow. What happens when you are short changed at the supermarket, do you declare war on Tesco!

Depends on the company really  Sainsburys ended up paying me £50 when I found an apple stalk in their vesion of Fruit and Fibre. As they say "if you don't try you don't get".;-)

I think you've scared them bigtime, bigman. ;-)
Just received my activated phone this morning and when I checked the balance it had the full £10 credit on it.
Nice surprise to be given 300 free texts from Virgin as a welcome when I switched the phone on. :-D

PS. Mine did track on Quidco but as £0 amount. Is that normal and will it revert to £10 later?
Thanks for any info.

Can be unlocked via a Subsidy Code around £5 to £10 or your local mobile shop

£3.49 for subsidy/unlock code if you search on ebay (item # 130307213859). I bought a code off them the other day for this handset, emailed to me within 2 hours and it worked. You just pop in another sim (eg Vodafone or o2) and turn on, it then asks for the subsidy code.

great find !!

Just bought one for my sons first phone (sure he'll lose it anyway!) and quidco tracked within 30 minutes @ 10.00

so even if he does lose it - it wont hopeully have cost me anything!
