Hawt! Prefer the Nexus 7 personally, but there is no denying this is a bargain.

    Got to agree Bargain

I've had the Xoom and now I have the Xoom 2, both 10.1 inch screens - and they're AWESOME!

Currently waiting for my HMV Xoom at the moment. I think the ipad size 9.7" (or 10" xoom) is an ideal size.

Anyone had hands on both the media edition and original xoom to compare?

Good price, shame in a lot of respects that the Xoom2 was a step backwards from the original Xoom, which made the HMV deal perfect, although I appreciate only a chosen few got that.

The attraction of the Xoom 1 was you could easily change it into a pure Google device, ensuring the latest updates etc. I don't think you can do that with this, so I assume you're relying on Motorola to provide updates.

Same price at Carphone Warehouse btw. http://www.carphonewarehouse.com/ipad-and-tablets/Tabletdetails/MOTOROLA-XOOM-2-MEDIA-EDITION/HANDSET

In fact it's a quid cheaper, so voted cold. ;)

I don't get your point as the Nexus doesn't have 3G.

But niether does this? Surely this is older tech than the Nexus at the same price, and it's heavier with a poorer battery life?

I think he means if this had 3G it would be worth buying, but as a wifi only tablet with 16gb of storage then you're better off getting the Nexus 7 wifi 16gb for £199 (or less with various deals) as the Nexus is newer tech, lighter and comes with £15 of credit with Google Play and a Free Film...
    So cold for me.

Am I missing something here? Same price as Nexus 7, no expansion, no guaranteed updates and almost certainly no update to Key Lime Pie, no Bluetooth 4.0 and a much lower specced processor and GPU from Texas Instruments. Is there any reason to get this over the N7 for THE SAME MONEY other than for a rear camera? Can't see where the heat is here.
    misterleoni
....and before anyone picks me up on it, yes it know the N7 has no expansion either; but expansion (along with 3G) seems to be one of the primary advantages to getting alternative devices such as the original Xoom.

Not so much heat, but as ever if you like this form factor and this model then it's probably a warm price..

Thanks, I understand now. It's a valid point, the larger screen might be good for some though.

At least it's nice to see some more realistic prices for tablets compared to a year ago.
    Nad_84
Bigger screen, water/splash proof built in cloud server linked to your home pc, a processor and.gpu that will do 99.99% of what the n7 will do....

Also if you want the 3g version its available from carphone warehouse at £249

Also don't forget that google bought Motorola... It's bound to be upgraded to jelly bean soon enough
