Not sure is this thread is allowed as there is another for Currrys/Dixon but its sighting a higher price with less Quidco.

Other deal post from 3 weeks, 3 days ago

Not only is mine cheaper with voucher code the extra saving with Quidco (now 6%) makes this a much better deal, and yes Ive purchased.

If this had 3G then it'd be a scorcher.....unfortunately its WiFi only :-( nice piece of kit tho...

I have both the Ipda and the Xoom 3g. Must admit, the Xoom did better than I expected, especially given some of the reviews. Only niggling things are, is that it is heavier than the the Ipad, the volume up and down are a bit to small to operate. However, it's a nice bit of kit. Flash installed straight away.

Also, downloaded all my previous apps from my Nexus One automatically. Good bit of kit. Your either with the Pad or not.

Meh - if you need 3G, I use my phone when out and about so have no need to carry a tablet. Though Im sure this tablet in WiFi and 3G will be alot cheaper come the end of the year.

For me having had (and this is no lie) 4x iPad 2s and 2x ipad 1s in the last 3 weeks ALL with screen bleed Ive decide to switch camps to Android. Screw you Apple, I want a divorce. So right now / today I want the flagship 3.0 tablet even if there are better spec'd ones coming out in the near future.

I kinda like the weight, I sold my first iPad one just before the 2nd one came out - once I received the ipad 2 I didnt really like the way it felt in hand compared with the first. It was too thin, without a curve it felt kinda wrong.

Anyway dont wanna bash Apple. If they could have provided me with a device that wasnt defective straight from the box 6 TIMES id still be with them. As it is they can kiss my £ goodbye until they sort out there quality control.

As usual Im seeing the coldness creeping in but as far as Im aware this IS the cheapest Xoom available today? C'mon........wheres the love.

@daBluone, why do you want the Xoom? the Asus Transformer is cheaper and has an IPS panel

Actually I prefer the 3G for many reasons. Main one is when I am working away or going away for the weekend like this weekend to a hotel which doesnt provide free WiFi. I bought the Galaxy Tablet for this very reason and its perfect for my needs.

Should I no longer require 3G functionality then I would consider the WiFi only models...obviously.

I was just about to post when I saw yours majhaar. Before I say anything, I haven't seen the Xoom or the Transformer but on the specs, reviews and price the Transformer wins every time. So I'm also interested in what swayed you toward Xoom daBluone.

Bought a Transformer on Wednesday and received Thursday from Ebuyer. Ready for this:

I switched it on, went through the setup menus and was loaded into the home screen. The first thing I did was to increase the brightness - the screen switched off?

So I pressed the power button, touched the screen and it went off again.

Pressed the power button but nothing happened. The missus suggested I plug into the mains and when I did the home screen came back and said I had over 50% battery charge?

Touched an icon and the screen switched off. Im thinking it needs a hard reboot which I do but the same thing happens over and over so the device I received was faulty.

To recap: on battery alone the power button would not wake the device but for a split second you could see a white flash. On mains power the screen would wake but touching the screen switched it off?! What a piece of crap.

Having been bitten by the ipad I wasnt about to order another Transformer and instead have opted for the Xoom. Now if this faulty I will in fact believe I am cursed and move out of the area into a cave and will whittle sticks for the rest of my life!

Edit: While I opted for the Asus first because of the lower price and IPS screen having held one in hand I still like the Xoom shape and build more, but thats personal preference. In the store the Xoom didnt seem too refelective but the transformer is like looking into a mirror + I didnt really like the longness of it. Also one side of the screen was flush with the case but the other was sunk slightly, but this may well be because mine was faulty who knows (just being picky cause Im pished off).

With regards to Asus though Its always a little worrying when the manual that comes with it is only 4 pages with no trouble shooting guide - and when I went to the Asus site all of the support pages for the Transformer were referring to Windows issues / PC issues which is a little worrying? Wheres the support Asus?

Again if it worked and wasnt defective I would have been happy to have kept it and shortly ordered the keyboard dock. Sigh* its been a crappy month for me technology wise.

@daBluone: unlucky. Having played with and held both (Xoom at Currys and Transformer at Comet) theres not a lot in it. Id have gone with the Transformer as the keyboard dock is such a huge plus point, although i didn't think much to the cheap feeling back panel.

I picked up a Dell streak 5 from Tesco for £199 last week and loving the screen size which is why i'm looking at even bigger options

Once again another deal frozen out even though it is the cheapest - if it isnt then I invite the cold voters to post links to cheaper prices. But Im sure alot of the voters either love there ipads or just hate tablets. (Yes yes I know making comments like this only bring the trolls out to further vote down the deal.....sigh*)
