Now if only someone would do some decent US Root Beer at reasonable price too :)

Costco carried it in their early UK days... before I guess they realised it wasn't a UK staple :(

I LOVE Mountain Dew I bet my Leeds store dont stock it
#4
Its a canadian staple, you can get it in house of frasier but they want like 2.00 for a can :x

Never seen this in sainsburys though, well not in cardiff anyway
#5
It's even in my small Sainsburys Local, so no doubt it'll be in pretty much every store!

Great price, for a great drink!
#6

The huge Sainsbury's near me (London Colney, Herts) doesn't carry this, which seems really odd.
#13
Is this the original MD or the energy one?
#14

Yes. Its classed as an Energy drink than a Soda drink in the UK market because of its high content.
#16
Mount and Do.
#17
Never have it in burnley store :'(
#18
This must be the energy version they have released over here. Believe Sainsburys and Total petrol stations are stocking it (Total anting £1 a bottle).
Dont seem to taste the same as the original US stuff. I beleive they have taken some kind of Orange concentrate out of it or the likes from what i have read.
Please confirm those who have bought this whether it is original MD or Energy version.

It was withdrawn in the UK due to poor sales, back in the mid 90's. now its back with a higher caffeine content and marketed as an energy drink. Its not the quite the same taste as the US version but pretty close, I'm addicted when I'm in Florida :)

From Wiki

"The UK product uses beta carotene rather than tartrazine for the color of the drink, it also has a higher caffeine content of 18mg/100ml rather than the 15.5mg/100ml used in the American product. Orange juice from concentrate is absent from Mountain Dew Energy, unlike its US counterpart"

90mg of Caffeine, that's pretty pokey. Wonder how many will rush out and grab some tonight and be totally wired at bedtime :)

I used to love this stuff, and bought some recently but turned out it was the 'energy' one, so stuffed full of caffine which I didnt want.

Anyone got any idea if the 'non-energy' one is actually available here, or do we just have to settle for a massive caffine fix if we want to drink this stuff?
#22
No sainsburys round here stock it, Washington, Gateshead, Durham, etc

Prefer crab juice myself, like Homer.

The "energy" version is the only one widely available in the UK so far. The only place to get the normal version is at generally overpriced US import shops.

This stuff however is still nice and doesn't actually have that much caffeine compared to normal drinks, and certainly a lot less than redbull not sure why they are marketing it as an "energy" drink here.

Either way this is a great price - it was 97p a bottle for a limited introductory offer (so the small print on the price tag told me) but my local store then put it up to £1.09 a bottle so two for £1.50 is great price, though the scan of the receipt shows it at the cheaper price so my store is just evil bumping up the price since it was flying off the shelves lol!

The lighter version is the stuff the US kids get addicted to when having 36hr Halo marathons. Or like this guy: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=PbcctWbC8Q0

i used to love this stuff when I was younger.. the taste is similar to the old MD (us version) tho not quite as erm "full" tasting (sorry not sure how to describe it lol)

I also work for a sainsburys distribution site and have seen it going out to both local and supermarket stores all over yorkshire and further afield (gosforth, alnwick among others up north) and im sure ive seen some go out to durham supermarket ?
#27
the baguette express shops up here in scotland sell the original cans for 70p. i'm guessing they import from somewhere ( going to ask next time i'm in )
tried the energy stuff and its alright but enjoyed the can stuff better
#28
we just vanilla coke back now
#29
Price has been like this for a while in Edinburgh, hot deal.
#30
Wish they'd bring the red Mountain Dew over, thats lovely...

You like Root Beer?!?!? I tried some and it was like drinking Deep Heat (muscle cream), disgusting.

Have the other supermarkets started selling Mountain Dew yet? I havnt got a Sainsburys close to me.
#32
ASDA have their own brand root beer 6 packs for about £1.20 here in Warrington. It's just like the stuff in the USA to my taste buds, so I never buy it. Can't beat D&B and Irn Bru which you can't get over there.
#33
Mounain Dew Energy drink, not Mountain Dew as title states.

Misleading title, voted cold. (energy stuff not nearly as good.)
#34
How is 75p for a 500ml bottle of **** good value? 75p for 500ml of and drink isnt that great. The original price is the problem here.
#35
Is this an energy drink like Rockstar / Monster or more like Lucozade? Seems to be getting popular over here now.
#36
I wish they'd bring Mountain Dew Typhoon over. It's the nicest Mountain Dew flavour *drool*

You can get canned version in London China Town for 70p. It is manufactured in Singapore.

Its also in the Chinese Supermarket in Birmingham, the one outside the Arcadian car park. They import from Singapore - the taste is still not the same as the US stuff though, but it is closer than the MD Energy we've got. Mind you, I think the cans always taste a little flat.

Be Careful.
This is an energy version and bottle does say on the label not suitable for children or pregnant woman. REALLY high caffine content.
