Mountain Dew is now available in the UK! But is classed an energy drink due to the high caffine level which is 18mg/100ml.

Ingredients
Carbonated water, Sugar, Citric acid, Antioxidant (Ascorbic Acid), Caffeine (18 mg per 100ml), Flavorings, Preservative (Potassium Sorbate), Stabilizer (Gum Arabic), Color (Beta Carotene)

It's available online & instore.

It's in the chiller at the front of the store.(you can't miss it, the bottle is BRIGHT green!!)

This is simply the best news I've had all year. I love you.
#2
It used to be available for years then just disappeared.

Just imported a box - fridge full!!!
#3
I rode a motorcycle around the states and drank loads of this at petrol stations thinking it was just like 7UP - really nice, but also evil!
#4
I know it's probably a stupid question but is it a normal drink or actually an energy drink?

It's a normal drink but over here it's classed as an energy drink due to the amount of caffine
#8
Been waiting for this to make a come back. I live on it when we go to Florida, thanks for the shout.
#9
Is it just me, or does this taste different from how it used to? It just tastes like sprite to me now.
#10
Never tried this but if it tastes like Sprite then it's boring to me.

Can you get a sugar free version? Loved this stuff in America!

Actually the version they have launched over here produced as a specific energy drink but they are targetting a market somewhere between regular soft drinks and full energy drinks like Rockstar/Relentless etc (30mg/100ml)

From their Facebook:

Company Overview:
After 1000's of you have petitioned us to launch Dew in the UK, we've decided to bring it to you! But in true Dew style we've added something a bit extra; Energy - to give you a kick when you most need it. Come join us and show us your support!

Mission:
Mountain Dew Energy is launching on the 3rd May and over the coming weeks! Pester your local petrol forecourts, motorway service stations, WHSmith Travel outlets, Sainsburys Local and large stores, Martin McColls newsagents and your local independent retailers to see if they're stocking the Dew!

It doesn't taste quite like MD regular but it's still pretty damn tasty!

I always wondered what this tasted like. If it's just lemonade though I think I'll pass. (Or maybe try it just once.)
#14
I drank gallons of this stuff when I was in Jamaica.. Keen to know how this version compares..
#15
Quality, Will this be on sale everywhere again. Loved the stuff
#16

#17
Funny, just a had a can of it last weekend!

Exactly right.

Nothing at all like real Dew.

It's only got 18mg/100ml caffiene compared to 32mg/100ml thats in real dew.
It's might be okay if you never had real Dew but this UK version is gross in comparison.

Love Mountain Dew. Fantastic news!

Was excited when I read this but looks like it's not the US stuff. Shop down here called Cyber Candy sells the cans, think it's a pound a time though so fairly expensive!

#27
HECK YES!

They stopped selling it in the UK about 10 years ago due to low sales - I think that's right.

Anyway, I'm grabbing a few bottles tomorrow!
#28
I'm American and have been craving this, I was just begging my mum to send it to me from the states, this is the best news I've heard all day. I just hope it gets everywhere soon, because I can't get to a Sainsbury.

This deal is definately genuine as i saw it in sainsburys. Take my word if you want, i don't really care :-D.

I remember Mountain Dew being on sale over here in the mid 90's when I was in school. I presume that was the original American version but this new stuff will be different right?

I wish they'd bring back Wrigley's Big Red cinnamon chewing gum.

Agreed, I was pretty disappointed. It's the lack of corn syrup, which I believe is not allowed under EU legislation or such.

That's a real shame. I'll pick up a bottle but if it doesn't taste as good as MD of yesteryear then it'll be my only one.

Maybe we'll see the return of Tab clear one day as well..... THAT would be awesome.
#34
Somebody mentioned it not being on their Facebook, they did annouce it back in April and on the and on the Mountain Dew UK page:
http://www.facebook.com/mountaindew?v=wall&ref=ts#!/MountainDewUK?ref=mf

The UK one is stronger than the US version (more than double the caffeine), which is why it's sold as an energy drink. The UK version has 32mg per 100ml. The US version has 55mg per 12oz/350ml which is about 15.7mg per 100ml. 32mg per 100ml > 15.7mg per 100ml :)

Can't wait to try some! :-D
#35
you can get it imported by the way.

bought 36 cans of the stuff a couple weeks ago for about £28. not cheap but proper 'American' dew. Plus, they dont sell this in the UK as its a very unhealthy drink :P and theres EU regulations regarding some of its contents
#36
Just to let you guys know, this 'version' doesn't taste the same as the original.

It's still the best drink alongside Rubicon mango.
#37
Awesome - shame it won't be the old UK recipe... I think that had the highest levels of sugar and caffeine of any other in the world. I used to live on that and Neon Nerds. Bring back Vanilla Coke too while you're at it.
#38
I miss Mountain Dew Baja Blast from Taco Bell! Need to go back....................
#39
Dude, if this is for real it is amazing!!
I love Mountain Dew, but haven't had any since I was last in the USA almost 4 years ago.
Have been considering importing some for a while, but the price can be pretty steep - around £1 a can. I found a site which has recently started selling it online from the UK (Greenpod), and was thinking about buying some from them.

Which Sainsbury's store was this in? (Sorry if it has already been mentioned - I haven't read through the comments yet). Also, how long has it been available in the UK?
