This is about the going rate for one of these. They are awful.

Why the cold votes? It looks like a cheap n simple way to play MP3s in the car without changing the stereo.

I miss my old car which had a tape deck and one of these: http://www.focalprice.com/EM257W/Tape_Cassette_Adapter_Car_MP3_Player_for_SDMMC_Reader_White.html

Build quality, sound quality are beyond awful. The tape-deck adaptor that you mention is vastly superior to this.

I wouldn't generalise like that - there are many different brands of these - some good some bad - i've seen some of these that do the job very well

unfortunately if you have ears that arent ****-covered you need to invest in a system that is hard wired into your car head-unit. These transmitters are ok to play with, but the quality will depress you within half an hour.
Changing CDs drives me up the wall too, but I'd rather do that than use one of these.

thought id get in on this convo!

MP3s are NEVER EVER going to sound GOOD!!! They are highly compressed audio files, so stick to your CDs if you think that the FM tuner makes any difference to the quality of the sound being reproduced!

but if a product doesnt work very well, and falls apart while doing so- how can it be a hot deal even if it was 10p?
Theres more to a deal than price alone

I've got a similar device, but with 1GB built-in memory. Don't have any other choice as I have a company car with a cheap standard head unit and no line-in connector (Vauxhall CD-30).

The sound quality is acceptable, but not as good as CD or radio quality.

And if you tune it into a popular radio station's frequency it can cause confusion with fellow motorists in traffic jams :-)
