Gets better then gets silly.
First episode of season 2 is so silly I can't bring myself to watch episode 2.
Heat added for price :)

lots of haters on this thread... I watched season one on a whim, I had no idea what it was or what to expect and I honestly thought it was brilliant. Rami Malek performance had amazed me considering I didn't think he was capable of anything more then the light humour he gave in Night at the museum. Anyone who hasn't seen this should give it a try.

Episode 2 was better. Shame about the series overall, suffers from that US series problem of knocking out a few good episodes then hope you'll stay for the next 8 series watching their watered down dragged out plot.

end of season 1 really bad . cliché . disappointing. thoughts on season 2 appreciated but i put off by end of season 1!

Season 1 brilliant, loved the suspense of "Mr robot". Throughly enjoyed it and the finale had shades of fight club.

Season 2 feels like it's lacking direction and attempts to add in new characters. That said, I'm quite happy to see it through as im sure it'll pick up and improve.

All the top shows have slow episodes, season 1 writing is on par with Breaking Bad for me.

Ditto about season 2. But season 2 has just began so I'm hoping it's not all like this.

Episode 1 was one of the best opening episodes of any series I've ever seen, after that it's one of those shows where you think the next episode will get better, I made it to episode 6

Series 1 was excellent. Series 2 absolutely hopeless, they've ruined it.

Loved the first season, but season 2 (4 episodes in) appears to have disappeared up its own backside

I really liked Season 1, I'm a bit of a geek as well, have been for 20+ years. The actual computer stuff in the episodes is very accurate, there's only one scene in the server room in Season 1 where I spotted an unknown Unix command, and that's possibly still OK as it appears to relate to the corporation that Elliott works for, a bespoke command. Anyway there's no typing at warp speed on computer keyboards and producing perfect code and flashing scrolling faux computer screens, they've worked hard to produce realistic computer operation. 99.9% of the commands typed in and used are real.

Also the opiate withdrawal Elliott goes through is realistic and painful to watch. Season 2 hasn't really kicked off yet and there seems little continuity with what happened from the end of Season 1. Season 2 needs to improve, the full list of Season 2 episode names is shown here >

https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/List_of_Mr._Robot_episodes#Season_2_.282016.29_2

Notice they've done another 2 part episode split in to two at the end of the season :/ Each episode name relates to computer terminology, for example Init 1 is a Unix run level "Single user mode Does not configure network interfaces or start daemons." Which obviously relates to Elliott and his struggle with his 'alter ego' Mr Robot.

There's plenty going on in Mr Robot on many levels, there's lots of computer related stuff that people won't realise the meaning of and there's also a convoluted story going on.

If you get completely lost especially so far in Season 2 then avclub has some decent episode reviews and explanation of each episode >

http://www.avclub.com/tvclub/mr-robot-season-two-begins-both-whimper-and-bang-239490

Also I don't believe they have the full answers or have missed things such as The Red Wheelbarrow from k3rnel-pan1c.ksd, yes Elliott's journal is called Red Wheel Barrow and Elliott is force fed from a Red Wheelbarrow, but surely this also has a deeper relation to 'The Red Wheelbarrow' meditative poem by William Carlos Williams.

https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/The_Red_Wheelbarrow

There's so much going on in each episode and I think Season 2 has tried to be so clever the actual meaning of the episode starts to get obfuscated by its own plot line. Work that out if you can.

If winning loads of awards and decent viewing figures are anything to go by then it's brilliant.

If you're into quality TV shows then you're in luck as it's amazing.

Maybe people just don't understand it.

The actual computer stuff in the episodes is very accurate,

I was particularly impressed by his 'hacker' approach, far more realistic than some random number generator that can calculate burglar alarm combinations in seconds. If people actually listened to how easy he found people's details, and then extrapolated it to get user accounts and passwords, I doubt anyone would post as much as they do on Facebook, Twitter etc!!

But I couldn't watch past episode 2, just wasn't my 'thing'. Not a hater, it was just not for me.

Incredible show, everything from the plot, writing, directing, acting to the music and cinematography is spot on.

Season 2 just as good so far IMO but it's pretty abstract, need to be invested in the characters.
Season one left a lot upto speculation for the first few episodes but had cool hacking and drama to tie you in!

Yes even as a kid I knew how easy it was to obtain information. I would wait until the teacher went out of the server room (a grand name for a room containing a BBC Master computer, I would then write down (no smartphones or Internet in that day) the login information for the school network login for TTNS (The Times Network System) a now defunct educational network. I then went home and dialled in using my Dad's TRS 80 Model III coupled via a serial interface to a 1967 Anderson Jacobsen acoustic coupler, I wrote the terminal emulation program myself and I would access the network, this was in 1987. All I had for tools was the manual for the computer, Micro Mart and teenage skill.

Anyway this is a long winded way of saying the Internet has dumbed things down for us. It's even easier to hack today than it ever was, you have massive amounts of resources, computing power, but you still need social engineering to back this up. I often visit factories and other businesses to fix their I.T. systems, I can guarantee as these places are low security areas you'll never get challenged, not that I should do, but I'd look for a toilet say in the factory, people see me, see my uniform, don't even ask me who I am etc. It's a myth that the police, NHS and other authorities work to a high standard, they work to a human standard which is prone to error and is full of error. Also there's a degree of arrogance, try challenging a specialist doctor when they haven't found out the answer to your medical problem, the barriers come down, if you don't have a diagnosis you're on your own. It's the human not the machine that causes the problem and is always the weak link, if you know how to engineer the weakness then you're the super user.

IMO the best series at the moment, depending where it goes could become better than The Wire. Maybe it is just me but I really like the way the second season is written and directed so far. There is the occasional product placement but nothing too annoying.

The promo website is also quite good https://www.whoismrrobot.com/

It's a very difficult show to understand because it is a total mind-f***. The writer delves into the world of hallucinations, dreams and reality. It is not a show you switch your brain off for the best part of an hour. Because of this, it is my absolute favourite show of all time. It doesn't treat the viewer like a unintelligent person but respects the intelligent amongst us.

Not sure this series warrants more the one viewing so I would think wallet wise it makes more sense to get a 30 day free trial to Amazon prime and watch it for nothing!

Season 1 got interesting towards the end but it was a real effort to get through it. Think I'll give season 2 a miss but it definitely has appeal. Hot for the price.

I assume you haven't watched season 2 yet. Prepare for a major disappointment, i expect it to be cancelled after this season.

If you were making a statement: I see the passive-aggressiveness is strong in you.
If you were asking a question: Yes, I could.
