Ok, I know these are confined to their own sections (Entertainment), but really, HDUK is being flooded with these crappy £2.99 DVD deals.

Even old films that aren't even greats, films that were out 10, 20, 30 years ago are still being posted on here when they're £2.99 and on DVD.

These films should be expected to be £2.99, and if there are DVDs that cost twice or three times that, then that should be considered a bad deal. After all, DVD is a format that won't last too long given the gradual drop in price of Bluray players and movies (I know you can upscale, but a source 720p bluray image is still much better than an upscaled DVD), the increasing uptake of HD Tv's (which are now industry standard), Ultra HD being a year or two away (2040p resolution!), so on and so forth. I don't mean to get into a debate about this, I'm just saying that we should now be expecting these DVD's to be valued at £2.99 and only if it's lower is it really a Hot Deal.

Totally agree. Sick of coming here to see the front page splattered with the 2.99 DVDs at either HMV or Play.

Anyway, this edition is best avoided. 13 seconds of dialogue has been cut. Go for the Family Fun Edition.

Interesting point. I appreciate the fact that you took a bit of time to explain why this isn't hot and how they are not much of a deal - most people would have just voted cold and either not said anything or said "rubbish". Have some rep for being so thoughful :) - but at the end of the day £2.99 for a film as good as this is pretty cool - I mean that's what you would pay just to rent it. It's hard to filter things like DVD deals as yes there are a lot but many people will actually buy after seeing it. It's just like the supermarket deals all the time - save 2p on baked beans isn't going to get too much heat any time soon but wouldn't surprise me if we see it posted soon.

Just about using a bit of common sense....

So you're saying that all classic films on DVD should be no more than £2.99? I'd like to see you find The Lion King for that :P

Personally i think regardless of whether the film is old and blu ray is out or not if its a better price than its rivals its a deal. A price that beats others by £1 may not be a huge saving in your pocket but it beats rivals by 25%. Not a bad deal that in my eyes.

iam sick of all these dvd threads every fricking day

its getting out of hand now

theres so much rubbish being posted on nowadays

HUKD is not the same anymore

99% of the crap are not even bargains
[helper]#17
Ah stop complaining people, what do you think this is? Things do change as they grow - look at MSE. I was one of the first people on there, it has changed significantly since then, some things for the better and some for the worse. HUKD has also grown massively over the past few years. The best way to keep things running well and to have good deals is to inform new comers how to behave on here and what is / isn't good to post.

This website is free to use - the way some people moan and groan you would think they have had to give their right arm to be on the forums or see the deals. If you don't like it or can't make your criticisms constructive, don't click on the thread in the first place??

I'm sorry have I offended some people letting them know of a cheap DVD? Naturally as punishment I will think about what I've done then kill myself..... :whistling:
