Bought this for £160 just 3 weeks ago!

MSI have apparently sold off the rest of their stock so OCUK got silly good prices.

Amazing! Its unbelievable that i paid this much for a 5770 6 months ago!
#2
Amazing price. That said, though, beware shopping at Overclockers - have a Google...
#3
When is it due to be released then??
#4
thanks
#5
Just seen 24/12/10
#6
Wow seriously good price. I'm very very tempted. If it was Ebuyer or Scan I'd be straight on this deal. Hot nontheless!
#7
Fantastic price for this card, definitely can't beat it for price vs performance. I know it seems to be 50/50 with people about using Overclockers, but got to say I've never had a problem, been ordering from them for 3 years now.
#8
Cracking deal. I think I speak for most 5850 owners when I declare my disgust at how quickly these have fallen in price.
#9
Can anyone tell me if they charge your card right away or they wait until dispatch to do that?

Straight away mate.
#11
Shame. Otherwise would've been a win-win. I want to go for this but I'm thinking I don't want to be getting another card in 18 months time. Wondering if it's worth waiting a bit and then shelling out closer to £200 on a 570 or 6950....

Hmmm, decision, decisions...

Tempted to get this to replace Powercolor 4870 1GB OC, would I see much difference?

These graphs have a 4870 512MB on, but I chose a low resolution benchmark on purpose so that frame buffer shouldn't be the limiting factor. As ou can see the performance gains are anywhere from 40 to 90%!

ETA is 24/25th this month (love the idea of them turning up Christmas day) so no chance of getting one this side of the festivities, more likely in the new year would have thought.

cracking deal for a good branded 5850 with an excellent cooler! hot from me :D!
#16
So tempting.

I bought my 5850 on release for £200 from Overclockers, not had a problem with it and it runs everything I throw at it faultlessly at 1920x1080.

No need for this but look at the price!

Every bit of hardware goes down in price for PC's very quickly. That's one of the negatives of gaming PC's. Wicked price though. If I had money to upgrade my 4870, I think I probably would go for this.

This has been replaced by the 6850 and they are no longer making these so that's why the prices are dropping so i would expect to see these drop from other retailers over the next couple of weeks with Christmas round the corner they will want to clear the stocks.

Its a good price but there's 2 things putting me right off one is its Overclockers and second the fact that the ETA is 24/12/2010 so you have no chance of getting this till the new year and they will have took your money so when the next great bargain card comes up that is in stock you wont be able to get a refund as they will be closed so you will either be using you credit card or going without then you have the ball ache of getting a refund fro Overclockers.
#19
Just weighing in on the overclockers here, the card is brill btw for this price, anyway I ordered a few seperate orders (each of a few items) of components and not had any issue with them. Delivery was quick and well packaged so no complaints here about them.

thanks big help

AMD would like you to believe that the 6950 is to replace the 5850, the 6850 was to replace the 5750.
#22
Overclockers so has to be cold from me. If your purchase goes faulty you can wave goodbye to it.
#23
Good price. £10 more than that darn Play.com misprice that was cancelled on me a few weeks ago. Patience is virtue :D
#24
Would definately take the plunge with this if it wasn't OCUK. Great price but hopefully there will be more bargains out soon. Also I don't really need to replace my 4870, it does the job, just that it occassionally groans with games that require a lot of VRAM such as GTAIV and it is a pig for noise. Still I could probably quite easily get another 6 months out of it. By that time a 6870 might very well be at this sort of price!
#25
is it worth a upgrade from a ATI 4770?

It would be a big improvement

I have used OC for most of my buid and had no problems but then nothing has gone wrong so far. sound like some people have suffered from poor customer service but I found then prompt, well packed etc.
#28
1. Advertise product which you don't have yet
2. Take payment for said product
3. ????
4. Profit

In all seriousness though, there is NO reason why you would want to take this deal. By the time you actually receive it from OCUK, there will be plenty of other deals at the same price from reputable retailers. Maybe you'll even get it cheaper because OCUK rape you for delivery.
#29
how would this compare to
XFX ATI Radeon HD 5770 1024MB GDDR5 PCI-Express Graphics Card

for £88
#30
Another one here who has always had good service from clockers, I've had problems but they always sorted any issues I've had, so voted hot as great company, even hotter product.

could you point me to a gtx570 costing around the £200 mark? ;)
the cheapest I've seen is £260(that's closer to £300 than £200) and those are either out of stock(pre/back order) or a limited offer and all gone by the time me and 99% of the people find out about it.

and in all fairness you should be comparing the gtx570 with the similary priced 6970, I'm trying to decide which to get. looking at the bench marks I've seen so far, looks like the gtx570 just about wins out at the res I'll be playing at(i.e. 1920x1200) with the aa etc turned on.

Excellent price for a custom cooled card, but remember this card is EOL, and there is a chance overclockers won't actually receive the amount of cards, they believe they will, taking that into account, and the fact, they charge your card straight away, I'm personally gonna give this a miss.

Also overclockers are fine if everything goes fine and dandy, it is however when things go wrong, that it goes downhill pretty quick, overclockers will blame the customer and completely wash their hands of any fault at their end, add this to their ridiculous shipping charges, the arrogance shown in their forums, the way they treat their customers, etc etc, and it's obvious why, overclockers are hated on with a passion.

The problem people have with Overclockers is not that they don't deliver what they promise - it is when you have a problem with said product that it might turn a bit sourish ... for some.(_;)

Think i ll order 1 missed out on the play deal and if anything beter comes up before the 24th/25th will just cancel the order.
Have used ocuk numerous times before and have always delivered on time but have never had to return anything.

Not to be all doom and gloom, but your card will be charged straight away, and if you do need to cancel, good luck getting a refund in a timely manner.

I will use a creditcard with 0% on purchases so im not bothered if it takes a week or so to get a refund.

I've had refunds from numerous etailors because I either changed my mind or sent it back under DSR, OcUK has always refunded in a timely manner, I will give some examples:-
Dabs - 3 days
Ocuk - 4 days
Ebuyer - 5 days
Scan - 5 days
Aria - 28 days

So compared to others ocuk seem quite good, I never had to chase them up, however aria, what a nightmare I had to threaten legal action before I got my money back and one of their excuses was because their bank had no money in it, what gives?

They've confirmed they have the allocation in their forums.

I used to be apprehensive about using them from net reviews but decided to give them a chance. Have used them on many occasions now and they've been great. Had to RMA a product the other week and all went smoothly too. Their webnote system worked well and they respond quickly to questions posted in their forums in my experience.

Cracking price, particularly with that cooler on it!

it's ok,but i won't pay this much for it on my pc!tho,i've got 5850 on my lap top.
#40
Said it before, don't understand the hostility towards Overclockers around the forums, if you've got a genuine problem or faulty item their aftersales is on a par with most other e-tailers in my experience, as long as you play within their rules regarding RMAs /returns.

Only ever had to deal with 2 returns with OcUK in ten years: First, a PSU that blew up, they replaced it with a brand new one within a few days; Second, recently returned a mainboard I suspected of being faulty under DSR, they refunded the full amount after 5 days, no questions asked.

Very good aftersales over the years also from Dabs and ebuyer.

Had problems getting a refund for a faulty gaphics card from Scan a year ago, and had real problems with the other Manchester place whose name cannot be mentioned on here, when they refused to answer any web notes I sent regarding a faulty HDD, getting them to replace it was like getting blood out of a stone.
