I'm thinking of taking the plunge in getting a new laptop, just recent got a new base unit to replace my ageing pc(actaully ancent 8year old battered one). Have laptop which is completely knackerd, mind still working just. Was wondering, do you think this is best buck for bang for the price on there site, or does anyone else think there something better for about similar price. Thanks Lee

Personally prefer Acer's to MSI.
For an extra £30, they have a MEDION AKOYA E5411 which has a faster processor an extra 1gb of ram which should make it perform better but has a smaller 320gb HDD.
Never had a Medion laptop so not sure of their build quality.

Lol, medion is my old laptop. There cutomer service needs allot to be desired. Purchased a base unit and couple of laptops from them. Seemed fine. Then when I got my second base unit, had so much problems with ALDI, and them selves. Passing the buck from one another. Maybe they might have improved, but im unsure it has.

My current laptop is a P4 2ghz with 256 o ram and 32graphics. The battery doesnt hold much charge the keyboard keys have died, usb is knakcered the screen is dull

I dont mind if its refurb, as long as it works and there arent major problems with it. Like pixels dead. I have got crap eye sight as it is, which cant be corrected. So need the screen to be ok.
I got a refurbish base unit from pc world, yes I did have a couple of problems but all sorted now. It probably was worth the hasel as well. Saved me allot I think.

As for the price of what I want to pay. This seems like a good level, thou if you give me the earth for not allot more, then i might take your hand off. So stretch to about 300, maybe 320 at a push

It's got 1080 on lid, only got yesterday brand spanking new may I add. I beleive you can out the pc onto 1080 flat screen, via the hdmi cable.
I double check everything yesterday for any problems, couldnt find any. Last recon laptop I order from Pc world group was fine until I ntoice it had pixels missing. So ran same test, as I did before. Perfection is all I can say. Mind I thin these units have all gone now.
#17
thanks for the reply lee, is it possible you actually test playback of1080p videos(x264, AVC codecs etc in MKVs, WMVs, MOVs etc) and HD flash(toutube bbciplayer etc) streaming etc on this laptop? and also connect to HDTV to see if 1080p playback is problem free?
#18
No I havent done that, and I couldnt say at this moment intime. I've yet to install security software, so wont be going onto tinternet until I have altered this. As for direct playback via cable, again I can comment. Ad I dont have a hdmi cable, never had reason to have one. Maybe I do now, and play video from laptop onto my fokes plasma. Thou I couldnt imagine there would be a problem.

Yea well I havent really had a major problem with it. The only downfall with it I have found, is the chasis of the case is so thin, aplly any pressure to left hand side and you will stop the hard disk spinning. So you got to be careful.
