I am sure that some of the people who bought refubished (laptop, netbook or tv) from Argos Ebay recieved as new Condition and they are happy with it. If not you can always return this laptop and they will pay for postage.

Previous post of this laptop reached 1660° with £299 but new condition, http://www.hotukdeals.com/deals/msi-cr630-blu-ray-250gb-15-6in-lapt/833804

Bought one - thanks OP.

Read the thread linked to above for an exhaustive rundown of this machine's pros and cons (not too many of the latter - tinny speakers seem the most common gripe).

Pretty well reviewed: http://www.expertreviews.co.uk/laptops/1279684/msi-cr630/2

save ya money! get a £50 quid blu ray player and a better laptop with a faster processor! are u really going to watch a blu-ray on a 16" screen?
#9
Makes sense - please show me a better laptop for £200 - assuming blu-ray players cost £50.

we got this a while back and so far it's been great. Online browsing, basic games, office etc, not the fastest, but then again we're not impatient children with ADD who need things to pop up instantly, we're capable of waiting the 3 seconds they take. It's fantastic for the cash.

Good dealanyone konw the situation regards upgrading the memory here? Just add 2gb to take it to 4 gb or will the existing 2gb need throwing away.

Thanks

We got one of the £130 Zoostorm netbooks from Argos ebay outlet and I have to say it was as new when it arrived. A few weeks ago the charger cable became faulty - just a loose wire - but the warranty company arranged for it to be collected and a new/repaired one arrived a week later.

Not sure if the specs of this are that good, as I agree with Trackdk that you are unlikely to want to watch a bluray on a laptop, but I haven't seen anything better recently for the money.

Don't be put off by it being a refurb, I would be surprised if it looked anything other than new. I would use Argos outlet again just for the 12 month warranty and the good back up from the company who refurb and repair for Argos. I think the PC World outlet only do a 3 month warranty IIRC.

I had one of these and I wasn't that impressed so took it back. They have a sticker over one of the screws and while it is against EU law to say that a warranty is dependant on a sticker, Argos was remaining that if it was tampered with there would be no warranty from them. This is pretty bad customer services and the laptop really needed the extra RAM to play Blu-Ray films correctly (Mine seemed to drop a frame or 2 per second so didn't look perfect).
The speakers are pretty low in volume no matter what I tried too.
Can really see why it is so cheap but if these problems wont effect you then I would still say it's not bad value for money.

Good deal!

I take it Blu ray players cant burn DVD or CD-r

Why do they put them in computers like this? You need a proper decent computer to get it running as it should.
Just give me a decent optical drive that I can burn stuff too.

Any other comments on the blur ray playback - I cant see that 2gb should be a limitation here - could it be the playback software???

I am thinking given the laptop has a HDMI out then this would work nicely as a blu ray player hooked up to the TV.

Cheers

I have one put a 2gb chip in to max out the ram to 4gb the drive burns cd and dvd

If you fire XBMC on it, it should play Blu-rays and 1080p MKVs no problem.

I nearly went for this model when it was £300 but ended up getting a netbook for extra portability. For this price it's a very good deal IMO.

There's plenty of stock of this, so I'd be confident in buying it from the Argos Outlet. Seem to come in almost brand-new condition.

It's the individual items (i.e. only 1 in stock) that I've found you need to watch out for...seem to be passed from pillar to post, with knackered boxes and faulty in some way (i've experienced both overheating and defective graphics, despite claimed refurbishing).

So, ~250 points lower than a T4400 and ~700 points lower than an i3-330m. That's quite a substantial difference.

What? No idea how you're claiming a similarity with T4400/i3 from those links of random internet opinion!

I'm not saying that it's a slow laptop, or that it wouldn't be fine for everyday computing (I've voted the deal hot), but claiming similarity to a T4400/i3 is very misleading.

The memory can be upgraded without taking the warranty screw out, i have done and it was easy. The speakers aren't too bad if you follow some of the settings that were mentioned when previously posted. My 17 yr old daughter loves it, had no complaints from her at all and she is on it all day long.

This would make a perfect media centre too, about the same price as a Revo but you get the addition of portability!
#26
is it well built ? the specs look very good for the price.
#27
Had one bluray didn't work gave it back to them now have a sweet HP
Could be my old piece of cr**

Mixed reviews but need new laptop. Seems to do what I want. Worth a punt for the price and have 7 days to return - bought! Hot.

That is my thought as well:
Better processor
Screen

Looks good

expired ! :(

or at least ended in ebay , lets see what monday brings .

Managed to get one, and it arrived today.

Seems to be a very nice machine and in pristine condition despite being a refurb. Performance is noticeably better than my (admittedly 4 year old) dual core Acer.

Very pleased, thanks to OP!
#33
...just noticed that the spec is actually better than the ebay listing - it has an Athlon P340 processor rather than P320, and ATI 4270 graphics rather than 4200.

Does anyone have any problems using the blu ray win-dvd software? Mine keeps on requesting an update and when trying to update does not appear to do anything all resulting in a machine that cannot play blurays...
