this is where cards confuse me, is the fact its a gts mean its better than a 8800 gt even tho its only 320mb as apposed to 512?
#3
I'm afraid this is the old discontinued 1/2 memory version of this:
http://www.overclockers.co.uk/showproduct.php?prodid=GX-087-OK
Which itself was a cut down version of the 8800GTX (768MB) which is similar in power to to the new 9800GTX (512MB).

The price isn't so hot I'm afraid. And a 8800GT will outpace it!

Wrong! the 8600's and the 9600's are budget versions of any 8800gt/gts or 9800 card, this does far more then a 9600gt.

its slightly better then a 8800gt listed at £111 at scan.co.uk as the card actually does more, it may have less memory but overall the card would perform better.

ok, thats also a great price. but the 8800 ultra is 40% slower then a 9800gtx so i fail to see how a 8800 gtx is similar?

wrong mate the 9600gt is much better, it has similar performance to the new 8800gt. You need to get with the times mate. The 8600gt is old yes, the 9600 gt isnt.

Sorry, but your wrong there...

the 8800GT 512Mb performs better than the 8800gts 320Mb, mainly because it was a newer generation of card and it more steam processors on it.

the 8800GTS 512Mb will perform better than the 8800GT 512Mb though :)

With all these older generation 8800 cards being posted it is clear that there is a lot of confusion.

The thing that nobody has mentioned is that the newer cards use a lot less power. One of the other common threads is with cheaper Dell systems & people asking about upgrading the graphics cards & whether the power supply will cope. If you are in this position I would buy either a 9600 or an 8800gt. Actually I would in fact buy an Ati Hd 3870 because that works better for me even though I am perfectly aware that the test bench marks "prove" the nVidia cards are better.
