Considering other 1060's are <£230 this will not be a hot deal

that is out of stock there but its average price ive been looking at this card for a few months and seen it alot lower, aria stock it and always around same price but you get a top game also, its in stock every other day lol, i would wait till someone sells for 230ish , ive seen it down to £250 in the past also not a good time to buy graphics cards as amd are just switching to dd4 so new boards that means everyone is waiting with vr coming they will only be alot cheaper in the months to come as only not clued up will buy them

This is the 6GB version though, right? It's about average in price, but still not super cheap. Also, I believe this to be the quietest of the 1060 range, so it's a good card to keep your eye on. The 3GB version is currently just under £200, and is a very good card too.

Theres a Zotac or something 6GB 1060 for £230 (even less with Which? code) and i dont think £50 is warranted for some extra quietness

I hear you. For what it's worth, given that I'd typically replace a card every 2 years or so, the extra £50, for me, is definitely worth it, if I'm playing games most nights. I'm sure this will drop in time, but the 3GB version of this is actually a very close contender, so unless you want to go full throttle on all games, the 3GB is a cheap option for a quiet 1060.

I bought this card for £250 few days ago. Will install it later. Zotac mini is available for £228 as well, but i prefer to pay extra £21 for more quiet card and better brand

january = amd release = competition = possible price drops.

not a good time to buy graphics cards as amd are just switching to dd4 so new boards that means everyone is waiting with vr coming they will only be alot cheaper in the months to come

What does AMD releasing a new cpu (Zen) have to do with this gpu?
Perfectly ok time to buy gpu's. This one's at the pricier end of 6gb 1060's. The new 1100 series Nvidia cards will prob be out mid next year, so you'd be waiting 6 months to see whats on offer.
If you game at 1080p, then an Nvidia 6gb 1060 or AMD 480 8gb will last you a fair while. AMD have just released a new driver update that gives their cards a bit more oomph.
1440p, then buy a 1070+ tbh.

there's speculation that and will be releasing the rx490 so maybe other radeon cards will have price drops

Release doest mean you can buy it straight. It might be another few months until AMD cards will be available to buy

Freezing cold, used 980Ti's are going for just £30 more, which absolutely destroys a 1060. These were only good at under £220 imo

this was on order for £249.99 last month from amazon. This price is cold

I bought it for £180 in an "open box" Amazon warehouse deal. Excellent card but it is MASSIVE. Please check that your case can take it before ordering.

Amd motherboards have not been updated to run DDR4 it is unlikely people who self build will by a new Graphics card till that happens as this is all happening next year, the price will be high until selfbuilders upgrade to fit there new vr set ups, why would any one do just the card if you know this you would just wait till you could get a motherboard to equal the performance as people have advised £230 is a fair price,AMD’s family of desktop Zen CPUs code named Summit Ridge will reportedly be available on shelves by February next year. Accompanied by a collection of AM4 motherboards, flagshipped by the company’s brand new high-end X370 series chipset, obvously everyone getting the new board coming from am3 or + will most likely upgrade there graphics card and the price will drop, but if your happy to pay an extra £50 because you can use it later thats your opinion but i like to save pennys where i can hence me being on the site in the first place, but thats just my opinion

So in a thread about gpu's, the arrival of Zen (a cpu) will magically drop the prices of gpus?.
As a 'self builder' myself, can't see why waiting till Zens proper announcement in January and release Feb would reduce gpu prices.
And tbh most cpus from the last two fens at least ain't needed upgrading (unless you want hyperthreading).
If you want to wait, then fair enough, but then why not wait till the year after that or year after that for stuff.
Personally, and keeping to the op (talking about gpus) even if the 490 releases and equals the 1070, it'd be in the same price bracket. What you need is accross the board competition at the higher end between Amd and Nvid to drag prices down.

they already announced them last january , but i really cant go on, it was serouly just some advice, maybe you will able to convince all us all and it will go hot and your opinion will hold water, but we all tend to be feeling a chill lol
I voted cold lol, as with Pascal pretty much any card combined with a decent cooler will net you c. 1900+ on the core clock, and as I said in my first post, this cards on the high end of cost for a 1060.
So just to ask (genuine question) name me a new gen of CPU that reduced GPU prices as you're saying? I doubt very much that with Zen they'll come up with a new magic PCIE architecture over 3 - it would render the cards they've just released as old tech. That was the reason why I kept asking - not as you seem to think that the card in this thread is value/I don;t understand when they're releasing Zen/announced it etc. I just thought your advice to wait on Zen as people upgrade all at once (they generally don't - how many people still run 2500K/2700K with a pascal or 400 series AMD card), was bad and the fact you refer to GPU buyers now as 'not clued up' - the only advice I'd give is maybe some of the cards will come down in price in the January sales as they sometimes generally do.
