It's still possible to buy 6950s which can be flashed with a modded BIOS to gain 6970 speeds, although they are being phased out. Did it with my ASUS, only took 5 minutes. This is a good price for a 6970 though.
A lot of people who moddded their 6950's are now having issues, I would rather go for this for about £25 - £30 more than a 6950 and run that risk, great price.
