6 cell then?

Excellent netbooks these have some heat

Tempting. I read that the U135 has 1GB of on board RAM so you only need to buy 1GB of this to upgrade. £9 or so for a considerable performance increase.

According to the Argos website you can upgrade to Windows 7 Home Premium for an additional £14.99p if you reserve it online - it is something to consider, as it would be a lot cheaper to do that.

Here's the direct link to the promotion they have on the go.

Here's the link for the compatible memory for this netbook via Crucial UK - there is also a discount code available (it's listed here on HUKD) plus there's possible cashback via Quidco or Top CashBack as well.

I'm using the older 160gb version with 2gb of memory and it`s top notch!

From the specs (Atom N455, DDR3) this looks to be the U135DX, which is actually a newer/faster model than the U135. Makes it an even better deal, but beware the memory link posted above which is for the U135 and is not compatible with the DX.

If it is the U135DX model then here's the link for that specific model.

a good netbook but why on earth have they released it with such inferior screen resolution, its not even HD. It has the latest series atom processor yet they've decided to go go backwards with the screen res. still voted hot for the price :)

I reserved two of these at different stores.
When I went to pick them up they were the 160GB versions - was in there for a while while they run some checks and it seems to be a catalogue error

^^ as above. There was also a catalogue error on their Toshiba NB500 too, when that came out for inspection it was the bloody NB250.

I actually reserved and bought the MSI in question but at collection I realised it was the 160gb version with a crappy 3-cell battery. Asked for a refund immediately and now I'm inconvenienced of waiting for the funds to clear back to my account. Morons. I won't be using Argos again.

i bought this on argos ebay last week for £130 it said it was refurbished but it was new just an open-box.
and it came with a full 12 month warranty.

Many thanks to the OP. Collected mine this am and they gave me the right one (i.e the U135DX). A really impressive piece of kit for the price. I hope others get it as well.

Getting a black one tomorrow hopefully :)

Anyone tried Linux Mint on it?
#22
They only had the DX 160gb model at my local store so i got them to knock 10% off and got it for £179.99. HDD space is a non issue for me.
#23
for some reason this catalogue number comes up as 160gb 3 cell at my local :(

The Argos site has now been updated to correct the error on the drive size, now showing as 160gb

'considerable performance increase' NOT. Minimal improvement

CAREFUL
The spec now reads - 4 hours battery life. It appears that if the OP posted correctly, they have changed the goalposts!
No longer such a good deal.

Watch out for problems with right hand hinge. Lid opening can force casing to separate and break hinge inside netbook. Google forums for more info. Can happen after 12 months.
