i wouldn't say AWESOME spec mate, processor is meh. I'm not an expert on this processor but would hazard a guess at it not being anywhere near as good as the atom dual core, which can be had for this price. All the other specs are pretty standard for any decent netbook. The only difference in this is the 12.1" screen. Not really considered a netbook. 12'1"'s have been around long long before netbooks were even thought about. The only thing that makes this a netbook is its weak components. BTW not voted hot or cold cuz have not seen any other 12" with netbook specs.

Spotted this the other day.

Been waiting for the U230 to come to these shores for a while. However the spec on the website and on this post seems to be from an MSI U210 and not a U230.

MSI Page for U230 is http://www.msi.com/index.php?func=proddesc&maincat_no=135&cat2_no=582&prod_no=1928

Can you confirm the spec of the unit you've got.

The Neo MV40 is essentially a power optimised, low clocked Athlon64 which offers around 50% better performance than a single core Atom. However it consumes at least three times the power which means it's not even very good against Intel's similar CULV lineup either. There is meant to be a dual core version with dedicated graphics which should give better performance without too much power draw but that's getting expensive and straight into CULV territory which it's still at a hefty power diasdvantage against.

For this sort of price I'd either go for an Nvidia Ion based Netbook or a CULV based machine if extra processor performance was needed over Atom.

what atom dual core can be had for this price ?

This cpu is significantly faster then the N270
the graphics chip is also Hd 3200 (not the x1250 it says in the specs)

the next step up is the acer ferrari 201 with the same spec. but 11.6" screen and dual core AMD for £399

the lenovo x100e equivalent is £399 as well.

I am not aware of any competition to this laptop/netbook at this price
