Cheaper than the Linux version by £30 but only if you pre order this XP white version.
If you want the Linux version or in Black/Pink its £30 more for some reason so might be a mis price.
Maybe £5 off with Voucher and Quidco?
Expansys sell for £335+ for Linux version. Better to get XP version and put your own Linux on it and still have a valid XP licence!

Also comes with a Supplied with protective slip case which in the MSI Wind manual says is an extra.
Quidco = £13.20 + £5 voucher = Total: £311.79

16/06/2008 - Same model also showing at CCL at similar price of £305 deld in choice of 3 colours.

CCL Price now up to £335. Minor chance it was a misread.

CCL - yep google still shows it at the old price of £304.99 (5.23 pm )

I'd advise waiting first on the acer aspire one, which is gonna be £199 or £299

dell are also gonna be bringing out a small laptop but not until august "Dell e"

lower spec, heavier, larger and with a smaller battery than the fourthcoming eee 901 - I'd wait and see what the reviews of both say and not pre-order this unless you really like MSI.
#9
Is it not the MSI with the Turbobost feature?
Decent spec and best screen of them all too.

Still pricey though.

Extremely disappointing to see Linux dearer tham XP!

No solid state drive.

True. But an 80GB SSD would cost a lot more than this entire Netbook most likely.

Have a read here before comparing the MSI Wind to Asus eee pc: http://www.i4u.com/article18136.html
Price is alot better compared to Asus one:thumbsup:

Asus need to sort out their pricing like the first version.

best spec of the lot but overpriced as stated.

The ACer One, if it does materialise at the stated £200 will be the top seller.
Both Asus and Msi should really be no more than £250 top whack.

Personally I expect many to be near £200 by Xmas.

your link points to one at £335. No sign of any at £305 delivered

Citing the American prices isn't very relevent - as you can see the best price here is £330 compared to the claimed £250 price in that article - the eee 901 is also availible for pre-order at that price. Bootup times? 34 seconds vs. 40 seconds isn't that much different and if it's that much of a concern the Linux version (of the eee, I don't know about the wind) boots up in less than half the wind's XP time anyway. Screen size? The bigger screen comes at the price of a bigger machine and all you've gaining is more potential readability since the resolution is the same - I find the 7" eee's current readability fine and the 9" has the same DPI.

Apart from factors you can't decide from the specs like design and quality it seems to me the only reason to go for the wind at the moment is if you need the extra few dozen gigabytes. If they can drop it back down to £240 then I can see it looking more appealing.

Does the wind's hard drive have an accelerometer to help provide drop protection?
