The battery will last around 2.5 hours, see here for a comparison to other netbooks:

The 5% off voucher cannot be used for Electrical items

So Its £199.00!

Please edit the post to save people wasting their time.

Managed to pick up the 120gb version (Advent 4211-c) for £199 (Dixons Refurb). Great little machine - but the battery is very poor. About 1hour - 1 1/2 hour max!
In spite of what all the comparison sites tell you - Would be a miracle if you got 2 1/2 hours!

I find this srange as i have the 6 cell battery and it does last 5 hours. Tested it on a plane and later a bus. And this isn't even the true 6 cell 5400 mAh but 4400 mAh.

same could be said about the acer aspire one deal that many of us picked up for £129 @ Tesco last week or so.

Great little laptop, but the battery life is real poor, get about two hours per charge. considering its a travel/compact sized its a real shame the battry is this poor. especially as the samsung NC10 packs in almost 8 hours!

lucky for me im using it at home, but if i was a traveller id pick the nc10 saves having to find a power socket every 2 hours or carrying the powerpack around

little niggles but for £129 cant complain really!

I would say this deal it cold as I got the white 120gb version from play in december for £179 and I could use the 5% varsity discount on it. So it was less.

It is a great little laptop though, as others have said the batter lets it down.
#10
got the medion akoya use on the plane nowdays even eco seats give u a socket hehe

Great little netbook and easily worth £199.

That was easily sorted. Picked up a nice 9 cell battery for £34 of Ebay for my AOA.

by far the best netbook around. voted hot!!

Great netbook. I bought a better version of this from Play.com in January, and the 5% RAC voucher worked okay.

I paid about £235 for this earlier in the year and it's brilliant.

Upgrading is very easy (though it does void the 2 years warranty..apparently). Can't see you needing it though.

The 80GB drive is a Western Digital Scorpio (making it better imo than the 120GB which I've heard is a fujitsu). The battery does leave much to be desired but the medion shop sell a 9 cell battery for £50. If you want that as standard you need the 160GB Wind.

Overclocking is supported with the latest bios and is backed by the warranty.

This thing is the quietest and coolest netbook out there imo.

I've also left mine on inside the slip by accident, it was baking when I resuced it an hour later and it's still been fine since.. so it's solid lol.

Im tempted by one of thse, my mum has a white 120GB one, shes had it since Xmas, paid about £80 more for it if i recall. She uses it mostly for iPlayer and ITV player, lol. Yeah the new bios lets you overclock the atom to about 195 Ghz Stable which isnt bad.

I just feel i might wait to see whats round the corner. It would be good to get one with new CPU (maybe Intel Atom2)which is clocked @ 2.4 GHz Default and which supports more than 2GB of RAM. A HDMI output as well for showing 1080p films on LCD/Monitor. Now that would be a proposition.

Best thing to wait for right now is the nvidia ion based atom netbooks.

Much better graphics, plenty capable enough of HD playback over HDMI :) They will almost certainly fill the £300 gap though.

Why do people post this stuff - I mean there is ALWAYS something new coming and it will ALWAYS be more expensive...

HUKD is about finding good deals - people have enough to fathom when choosing a laptop/netbook without you adding to it.
#19
Good deal but i've never forgiven MSI for giving me two duff graphics cards so don't trust their quality.

Amen Brother, Pass the amunition !

The I have seen haters refuse heat because " I already have one" or folks so self-obessed that they cannot cope with the concept that other people have different computing needs to themselves.

The disabled/unempolyed/elderly/novice do not need self-obessed forum troglodytes bellowing generalisations!

195GHz is pretty damn impressive. Especially for an Atom processor.:w00t:

I would love to get one of these and connect it to my big TV to watch Iplayer on but am I right in saying that the sound will still come out of the Netbook and not the TV?
#23
Bit harsh really..

The guy before was talking about waiting so I made a suggestion as to what you might wait for.

I gave it heat and butt load of other information on the laptop (since I own one), so stop whinging.

No, you can connect the sound to the TV or surround sound with another cable.

probably one like this, http://www.scan.co.uk/Products/3m-AV-Cable-2TR-303-35mm-Headphone-to-RCA-STEREO-Phono-(Left-Right)

It will use the headphone out on the laptop so the other end will depend on your TV I suppose but that would be my guess.

Decided to purchase, so I hope it's good.
Gone for a SanDisk Cruzer Micro 8GB U3 Readyboost Flash Drive from amazon as well as it's less than a tenner.
#28
Looks like they are now out of stock, as there is no longer a buy option when you go to the Play.com website.

Cheers, Scotty Boy!

I've paid for this but it's still not showing as sent....I hope this doesn't fall through!
#30
Did anyone get one? A colleague ordered one, it showed as "Packing" then yesterday changed to "Awaiting Stock". He rang them, Play said they could not obtain stock after all and he would be getting a refund within two days. He pointed out it was still on sale for £230 but they declined to sell him at the £199 price.

Sharp practice to take the cash for a few days and refund it when they couldn't be sure of getting the stock.
#31
Yeah, they took the money and failed to deliver. Bad show.
Luckily I can find a HP Compaq Mini 702EA PC for £225 through a scheme at work and it has XP so perhaps it's not too bad...
#32
I see Dixons and Currys have the Advent 4200 (same as U100) refurbished 80GB XP with 12 month warranty for £199, free delivery (not in store).
