The weight should be 1.5kg with battery, rather than 2.7kg as they listed.

Come on, for a measly grand more you could get something with a minimalist single USB (rather than these cluttered cheap machines with multiple USB ports), a non-standard display connector (to show how special you are) and a whopping 2Gb of RAM.

You'd have to be an idiot not to spend just that little bit more, especially when everyone would then see how cool you are (just ignore those people who snigger at you and mutter "nob" as they walk past you in Starbucks, they're only jealous) ;-)

Voted hot - smart looking machine for the price.

AMD Neo is the same as Intel atom. Personally I prefer Atom over Neo.

I've just checked out some reviews and looks like the Neo CPU is up to twice as fast as the Atom:

I have one of these they heat up like hell.
My advice is to stay well away.
I sent it back two weeks after buying it and they said they replaced the heatsink (it still is hot as any laptop i have ever owned)
I wish someone told me this when I was buying one.
My advice won't do me any good, but hopefully it will save a hukd user from quite a bit of money.

thanks elitefox, I was seriously tempted by this, mainly because im looking for a 14" light notebook and this seemed like a great deal

I'm in the market for a new laptop, but the (very few) reviews I've found are all pretty bad. Overheating, driver issues, Wifi problems & a battery life of 1.5 hours.
It's cheap for what your getting

This is just a poor man's macbook air.

(what's a macbook air?)
#15
Very good. Much better than a Mac book air, even if the Air was this price.
#16
ive got a dell hackintosh, thats a poor man macbook air.

Interesting comment by Argos heading up the Reviews page:

Sorry this product is currently available. Please visit argos.co.uk for similar products.

this is a laptop with netbook processing power with a laptop sized display.

i.e. this machine will be slow
#19
no optical drive!!!!

Dont expect any customer service from them. Its well documented they sell unrefurbished, untested, faulty, damaged, returned items via this channel. If you need a repair or refund they are a nightmare to deal with I can tell you from experience.

It's a dick extension. Nothing more, nothing less :D
#22
God i'm shocked anyone uses them after looking at some of the negatives they get on eBay.

I'd rather shoot my own foot.
#23
£248 for the dick extension of a poor man. Sounds tempting....
#24
This is just a netbook with a big screen. No power, no battery life and overheats like crazy. Cold from me.
#25
It's a 14" laptop, not sure why it's being compared to a 10" netbook.

It's a good price. It won't compare to a MacBook Air, a) because it's cheaper and b) the operating system, but it's still not bad for what it is.
#26
you need to check out the latest "chaep" mac before you make comments about the macbook air.

Ii disagree with my recent purchase from Argos/Ebay outlet. Had a fault on a brand new item (still sealed) and the response from customer service was prompt and a no quibble refund.
#30
I disagree. I had brilliant customer service from DJ Henry (who deal with these for Argos)

I got slated when I posted a deal for this laptop, from what people said I'd look elsewhere...

I'd bought 3 of the zoostorm netbooks from argos/clearance ebay outlet.

1 had a couple faults, collection and return was by DHL at the cost of DJ Henry, 1 fault still hadn't been repaired, so I asked for a refund, and got it without hesitation.

I'd happily purchase from them again, knowing it's a try before you're commited to buying and items can be returned within 7 days under distance selling regulations, even if there's not a fault, and that you've simply changed your mind once you have the item in your hands.

I don't know about the relative merits of this particular netbook/laptop, but I have every confidence in the retailer, even with my 66% success rate of purchases, I wasn't out of pocket for the 33% failure rate.

lol that doesn't make any sense to me.

A heatsink is supposed to get hot, in fact the hotter a heatsink is the better it is working.

So how is changing the heatsink going to improve things!?
#35
i've just recieved the one i bought..
it does seem to be getting a bit hot on the left hand side underneath.
the keyboard is a bit cramped, but i think i'll get used to that.
trackpad doesnt feel too natural.
but for 250 with guarantee i'm willing to give it a go for a while

but i have to say it looks very very nice, thin light, and after inital updates had installed, it was quite nippy for a small bit of kit... does anyone think its worth upgrading ram on these to 3gb or more with 64bit windows 7
