this was posted a few weeks ago-I bought two-one each for me and the missus-Im sure you will get the "bike purists" on here telling you these are no good for going up mountains blah blah, but these are QUALITY bikes-easy to build and extremely rugged and well made.

for the price they are an absolute steal if you can find stock.

fine for cycling to work m8-we are out in the country and using it on rugged tracks.we cycle an hour every other day for fitness.

took me 15 minutes to build the first one and 5 minutes to do the second cos I had the hang of it by then. you just need to put on the front wheel and the pedals, slot in the handlebars and adjust to height and the same with the saddle-they come 90 percent built. all the tools you need are in the box too. you will need to have a pump handy to pump the tyres to required pressure-no pump included.

probably quite heavy as the frame looks pretty solid and is steel.

It's a nice bike and a very good price considering it's £200 rrp.

Years ago when I first wanted to get a decent mountain bike muddy fox were like the rolls royce of mountain bikes - but for the last few years their prices are so low I guess that most of the parts on them are just average - no idea why they went that way - perhaps they were bought out.

edit from wikipedia :
The company have been a brand of Universal Cycles since 2001[1]and also produces Silver Fox to sell to bigbox retailers such as Argos.

This is prob when their prices started dropping !

Think it depends on area

Anything but a ride to the shop at less than 5mph is alright
Over 10mph you are on a suicide mission.

Good deal nonetheless

Sadly Muddy Fox started to drop their bike quality long before Universal Cycles took them over, in the mid 90s they started the whole catalogue bikes, Saracen have now been bought out by Madison Cycles and rebranded. Whilst Dawes are still hand built here in Britain and remain unchanged apart from this years range looks awful.

The futures not bright for British MTB manufacturers.

bought one for my OTH about 3 weeks ago its a very nice bike really heavy but well rugged build and he is pleased with it good for riding down the park getting exercise and fresh air etc
#25
"Bell included."

Whoa!

Bought one of these in Dec for £99, the gears are very poor, the front selector is very difficult to use quickly and takes a lot of @rsing about to switch gears when you want and need to change.

Argos do have a number of distribution centres. I live near Manchester and was able to get home delivery but my mate in Milton Keynes couldn't so it must depend on where you live.
