This or the LG BD670? I need netflix

Also been looking into both of these. According to recent reviews both the sammy and the LG do netflix (firmware update may be required on the samsung). The samsung looks better to me, though it's £100 on amazon and has a higher RRP so it should be. Also the samsung comes with £50 acetrax via redemption so that could be the decider for me.

Thanks op. I have been looking for bedroom TV and wanted all those specs but did not want to pay much over £400. This really seems to fit the bill, shame about the warranty though. I have ordered and hoping for the best. Owners reviews a bit hit and miss but mostly positive.

Article 5 of the European Union Product Warranty Directive of 1999 says,

“The seller shall be held liable under Article 3 where the lack of conformity becomes apparent within two years as from delivery of the goods. If, under national legislation, the rights laid down in Article 3(2) are subject to a limitation period, that period shall not expire within a period of two years from the time of delivery.”

Some sellers can call your bluff but it is worth a try if you have a faulty item.

The UK opted out of that EU legislation.
Gone up to £439 with the code discount so offer has expired.
Ordered at £419 over a week ago and they took the money out of the account and have not even dispatched yet. Only contacted by phone to try and sell extra stuff that we didnt want. Starting to think the positive reviews of the store are written by themselves as none of them seem to mention how long it takes for delivery and the pressure sales calls!

Thanks dooper. Ordered the LG, great reviews and says easy to use as I'm certainly not a techie it really needs to be.
Anyone know if there will be any issues as both TV and Blue ray will have Smart function ?

None if wired I would have thought - although i've never tried it as I haven't bought a BR player yet. I will definitely buy a different brand than the Tosh TV though, just so I can get a different range of Smart Apps!
Not sure if there'd be issues if you're planning to go wireless?
You will of course have to switch your ethernet cable from one to the other when you want to use them, or have 2 cables... or one unit wired, one wireless...

Don't care whether a TV is Plasma or LCD or 'LED'? Not insecure about 3"? Then thanks to £100 Sony Cashback, I think the Sony KDL40CX520 (Freeview model) & KDL40CX523 (HD Freeview) currently offer the best blend of proven performance & value for money.

How many times have you copy and pasted that? :p

Some people might value the motion handling and viewing angles of plasma over the Sony above.
I bought this from Comet recently for £350. It was a choice between this and a 47" LED LG which was 1080p but 50hz. The picture was miles better on the Sammy - really noticable watching football comapred to the LG which was jittery and pixelated!! There is always the argument of "spend a little more" but where do you stop? This was a cheaper replacement for the one my youngest broke the other day. Didn't fancy 3d, didnt want a 50" one. Had Sammys in the past and this replacement is great. Good sound, good picture good price. nuff said!

In view of the idiotic comments posted after I simply tried to offer some valid purchasing advice, I thought I might be best to re-phrase my original comments, just in case someone looks for info on one of these players...here goes...

:
Aside from the deal advertised, it's worth mentioning that if you are at all interested in normal scene agreed standards movie mkv playback from the likes of a memory stick or usb hard drive, without having to waste time having to edit, split, or shrink the files, then this is not the player to buy as it does not support NTFS over the USB port, so forget normal HD mkv movies which are around 4.4Gb for 720p with DD5.1 and 8.5+ Gb for 1080p. This player, using the usb port, has a file size limit of LESS than 4gb because it is restricted by its FAT32 file system. Of course if mkv support is not an issue to you, then consider the deal on merit/price alone...but if the abundance of available mkv movies that are unplayable on this player using mass storage devices, are a requirement to you, then consider an LG as someone kindly suggested, or a Samsung BDC5500 (my sister got one of these for £94 delivered recently) or other similarly priced models.

My favourite comment was from the guy who said "If your mkv files are over 4gb then your encoding leaves a lot to be desired"...thankyou for commenting on my "encoding" techniques....im sure your comment gained a few smiles from anyone with (a) some expectation of quality and (b) familiarity with the agreed scene standards....all I can say in reply is....if your mkv movie files are only 4gb or under, then your bitrates leave a lot to be desired.....but hey, if you are happy with what you are watching then there is of course no reason for you to change....I suppose its better than having to watch a movie in stop and start chunks. I shudder to think what your 1080p movies look like on your setup though....perhaps you dont own an HDTV and that's why you are happy ?
Not that I am in any way advocating movie piracy...but you try posting one of your 4gb (or less) movies, and see how quickly it gets nuked !

I'm looking to buy a 42" or 50" inch TV.
Panasonic G20 was also on my short list UNTIL,
I saw how ugly it looks.
But again the picture quality is amazing.
now I'm looking into the LG 50PK590

I've just bought the G20 from richer sounds which included bluray player and 5 year warranty for bout £802.

There is a slight nuisance at times with the flickering (only some people can see it, from what i've been told) but i've been able to tolerate it. There's also common problem of buzzing sound from the back, but that can only be heard if your ear is close to the plasma or there's total silence in the room.

Despite these annoyances, i was deciding between the G20 and PK590 too, but went for the G20 as it had the best quality and features(freesat HD [only panasonic include it in their tv now i've been told] and freeview HD). Also, it came with a blu-ray player which should save me about 100 quid.

Compared to the PK590 which was for £650 and if i added 5 year warranty (10%) and bluray (Sony BD370 in my mind, which was £100) it would've come very close to the G20 price, but without the features. So i decided to give the G20 a go. Thankfully Richer Sound gave me 7 day trial (till thursday) to see whether i can tolerate the flicker. It hasn't been too bad so far.

I'm 80% sure that i will keep it, unless the flicker gets abit annoying or the PK590 goes down to about £500, which i doubt will happen.

I recommend you go in-store and check out the TV before you commit. The flicker is more apparent when there's a bright white picture on the screen (or if you open the menu and check the large gray area on the menu).

RGB direct were also doing a similar deal with the 5 year warranty from panasonic direct, again for £694 with a trade-in.Fantastic TV with a great picture and i was very close to buying one myself, but opted for a samsung LED tv for approx the same price, which was absolutely beautiful in both PQ and design.
What model and size was the Samsung if you don't mind my asking?

It was the samsung UE40C6510, its 2 inches smaller but absolutely stunning led tv.
I'm not too sure now either. It's really hard to tell what's what (model wise) when you walk in to somewhere like Comet.

*confused*
want it, cant have it.
I've been keeping my
goone
I got one already, panasonic have gone downhill, awfull motion judder at 24fps,posterization,green tinge and banding even on blueray(vt series aswell,)if you can handle that the pic is sometimes too good on hi def, even so i wont be buying panasonic again can anyone remember the purple snakes on older models, the g20 is way worse unless you get a revised fixed model that will come out after they have sold all the lemons
I've been keeping my eye on this model for a while, but all of these negative comments are putting doubts in my mind, so many positives but now there are numerous negatives, its not the best looking TV in the world but the freesat and freeview HD are a bonus with all the other features too, I've been hanging on for long enough, anyone come up with an equal or similar 42" model with a 5 year warranty ?

I bought mine from Tesco and before scouring the net for a MR DVD crack, I tried playing a disc just in case, and lo and behold - it worked! It plays all region DVDs out of the box.

I have seen so much talk on forums about an absence of a MR crack for this player. I have to wonder if all those people just tried playing a different region disc, would it just work, or did I just get lucky? Tesco is the last place I would expect to find a ready hacked player.

That's interesting. Not entirely sure to be honest. All I do know is there are plenty of step by step instuctions for a MR crack using an AllForOne remote. Might also explain why Tesco are now charging just under £160 for this player.

But have you tried or even listened to the Klipsch iGrove? This is the review that sold it for me and its every bit as good as he says, and as he used to run a Recording Studio I'll take what he says over some Musicians.

I'd been searching for ages for an iPod speaker dock system that would rival and maybe even replace my old separates hi-fi system that had started to show its age. (I work in the film industry and used to run a recording studio so good sound is very important to me). I was pretty thorough in my research, home-tested two different units, became a pain to many a shop assistant and also poured over reviews on the net researching which units to test. I finally bought the Klipsch iGroove iPod Speaker System from Amazon and am very happy with it indeed. In fact, I think it is the best sounding iPod speaker dock that I found to date and recommend it most highly.

Speaker docks have two design limitiations:
1) The size of the dock tends to limit the bass response.
2) The way many docks connect to the iPod is via a male socket that plugs into the base of the iPod. This socket is often hard-wired to the pcb of the dock system, is subject to stress when the iPod is plugged in or unplugged and therefore can fail after light use.

The iGroove has a bass port at the back of the unit which is very effective. Additionally, the iPod fits snugly into the cradle on the unit, with a neat slider arrangement embedded into this cradle being adjusted up or down depending on which iPod you fit. (I use this unit with a 5g Video iPod and a 4g 40 Gig iPod just fine). The actual male connector is fixed firm and has no play to it. By adjusting the slider to the correct hight, you can drop the iPod into the unit and take it out again without causing any stress at all to the plug. Also, if you adjust the slider correctly, the iPod cannot move at all when connected, thereby limiting the potential for any stress to the connector.

Untis I tested included the following:
Monitor Audio i-deck Speaker Dock for iPod (I actually bought one of these and although it sounded great, I returned it after a couple of months as the connector failed - a common fault according to Newsgroups)
JBL Onstage II - iPod Speaker System - (very dissappointing sound and really lacked in bass)
JBL Radial - High Performace iPod Speaker System - (although more powerful, still not as impressive as I'd hoped)

Smaller, cheaper units sounded smaller and cheaper! I also read some pretty worrying comments from users of iRythhm regarding failure of the connector...

In summary:-

Pros:
Great sound
Small size
Good price
Excellent build quality

Cons:
Remote is a bit fussy - have to point it directly to the unit as it is infra-red (the Monitor Audio iDock used an RF remote which was much better).

I have a Bose my daughters bough for my husband about three years ago and it IS amazing there is othing like it - all of my family/friends are musicians and we have various other music players amps etc but nothing compares to the Bose - one of the best buys every

They have a nice sound but I think the above is a bit hyperbolic, sorry. I have friends and family that are musicians too and I've not had such raves from them, even with uncompressed music.

The volume on these is not great if you've got a small gathering and when pumped up too high it distorts badly.

I do like them but they're overpriced.
Product is good, would not buy from Multizone at any price though.
Their customer service is non existant.

This has had a firmware update now and the player looks even better :-D

The latest firmware upgrade, released September 3rd, gives the BD-1600 and all other 2009 models access to Youtube (provided your player is connected to the Internet of course) and the ability to playback .mkv and .mp4 files. Have just completed the upgrade and am still playing around with it. So far I'm quite pleased. Just a little extra to make the BD-1600 even more impressive.
I had one of these thrown in for free when I bought a TV. It's OK but it has issues with stuttering audio when bitstreaming audio off some discs. I'm also awaiting a replacement as it point blank refuses to upgrade it's firmware whether I use the USB method or CD. It's also a bit noisier than I'd like and the flip-down front panel is extremely pointless and looks lame.
I have this player aswell and it's great :)

I do not think people realise how much Sony prices have went up of late ... heat added
Good tv, I have one and paid more than this. Good price considering the 3 yr warranty.
Whizz heat added, great price but i'm looking for a sub £350 32" if you can find me a corker, nearer £300 if you can....
Well, I've added heat as it looks a really good deal/price

I can only assume that people are unfamiliar with MultizoneAV; but they are fine
Why the cold, please post if you can find cheaper - it's £399 @ Play & Amazon, £429 @ Ebuyer, £469 @ Argos etc
