It is still part of the AMD promotion for GCards and Square has a habit of dropping the price of games (even more so on PC, same with Thief, of course they are not involved with this site) if they don't start well (minus FF of course) this was £20 on key sites before launch with a quick drop to £10 after bad sales/reviews and the nail in the coffin for the developers of the game.

Heat added. Tempted to buy this as the game looks to be quite interesting in parts. The reviews may not have been so great but I don't suppose this had the same marketing budget to pay off the websites who awarded high scores to rubbish such as Watch_Dogs and CoD: Ghosts.

Watchdogs wasn't rubbish at all. Amazing? No, but it was good. It had an average review of 8/10 which is fair, although I'd probably say 7/10 is a better reflection though. If the game had stunning graphics it wouldn't hsbr been criticised anywhere near as much which is pretty unfair.

Regarding soul suspect though I don't think it will be as bad the reviews suggest and I think it's definitely worth trying out.

I got this the other day and played it for about an hour it's just lacking something and I don't think I'll go back to it.

I'm amazed at the price if this already. Heat added.

This will be a tenner on the PS4 soon enough as the reviews are quite bad for this.

Yeah, you really think a website or reviewer would risk it's entire lifetime income for a small payout on one game?

Indeed. It seems some people are incredibly naive and/or ignorant when it comes to knowing what practices are common in the industry.

I personally don't care about critic reviews as I like to make my own mind up about games and I'll own pay attention to the general publics reviews, like on here for example. But when you see stuff like that and game like cod ghosts and AC3 getting 9s and 10s its hard to completely reject the idea of reviewers being paid off. Either that or reviewers just have bad taste in games.

Watch_dogs alot of bad publicity due to certain features missing and all the glitches included.
Watch dogs runs fine 99% of the time on my Nvidia GTX OC 2gb ram.
Not on max settings ofc but not on lowest either.

I'm still playing through it and many other games purchased at steam sale etc.
Money well spent on Watch_Dogs, ppl need to jump off the hate train.

Don't worry. When Watchdogs 5 is out people will say 1 was the best and one of the best games of the gen and ubisoft need to go back and make 6 similar to it :p

If that's a reference to Ubisoft's Assassin's Creed franchise then if Watch_Dogs follows the same pattern the mediocre first game in the franchise will be understandably forgotten about and it'll be the first sequel that many gamers hold most dearly.

This was essentially the entire reason behind Giant Bomb being created. Gerstmann was pressured to give Kane and Lynch a good review whilst employed by Gamespot and when he didn't, Eidos threatened to pull ad revenue.

It's explained further in this article; http://kotaku.com/5893785/yes-a-games-writer-was-fired-over-review-scores

You failed to point out that all the reviewers donated the tablets to children's charitys.

Care to explain what you thought was terrible about it ? or are you just following reviews ? Not having a go just interested in what you thought spoiled the game.

Ive played it and found it an enjoyable few hours of gameplay. Not an innovative game by any means but enjoyable. My only complaint is that i found it a little on the easy side but enjoyed the story. Well worth £6.99.

It's boring, clunky and repetitive. Competition for PC games is fierce and you can do a lot better with your £6.99 than this. The Humble 2K bundle would probably be a much wiser purchase for example.

Heat....I dont read reviews I ask people if they liked the game and the guys who have played it here say its ok....So its now got a place in my Steam collection..let me think 300 and something I think

Average score of 82 across all scores, 94% is not out of reality if reviews by a fan of the series.

It is when you take into account that it was one of the few reviews allowed to be published before the release date, and that the game certainly wasn't an improvement over the original.

Take a look at the names of the reviewing websites - not many well known names there (only the ones giving good reviews) - the rest I have never heard of. Just a case of EA buying good scores before release ... don't get me wrong, I enjoyed Dragon Age 2 for what it was, but it is clear that money must have exchanged hands and PC Gamer lost a lot of credibility over that one.

This is why metacritic doesn't work - too many random websites who only review 1 game get their vote in the mix (obviously the sites are not bought by the publishers - honest guv!)
