Fantastic value for money phone compares very well to my HTC Tytn II which I paid £ 410 ex VAT for in Sept 2007, the RRP price was £ 369.99 but this was cut in September 2008 to £ 199 in VAT to compete with iPhone in USA.

btw you can get the phone for Free on certain contracts also at expansys.

nice phone but cost a bit tho

Not compared to the iPhone, N95/N96 or HTC phones which it was designed to compete with on features, and I don't think you can find another Windows Mobile 6.1 phone which has comparable features for the price.

Well-appointed phone with amazing feature set. There's also a £10 voucher floating around for expansys, which should remove the postage costs.

You should also add the £7.41 postage costs to the deal.

Voted hot.

I got the MWG Ubiquio 503G a few months ago for £99 from Expansys. I believe you can get them on fleabay for even less. I'm very pleased with the 503G & would recommend it. Having said that, the screen is a good bit smaller.

Does the 503G have HSDPA?

"Please note that eXpansys vouchers cannot be used when ordering this product as it is on special offer."

The site MAY well allow it to be applied, but Expansys WILL take the cash from your card! They have done it before :-(Still a good offer though! :-)

dunno but it has 3G. I never use it anyway.

Yes it does but for £ 62 more ex VAT I think the Zinc II is a better deal, with its GPS / Slide Out Keyboard & bigger screen + Windows Mobile 6.1... there is no question its a a better phone depends on how much you can afford I suppose...

You can't get £ 10 off on this phone as its on special offer, but you may be able to get £ 10 off on accessories if you choose to buy some idk.

How does this compare to the HTC Touch HD?
#11
The HTC Touch HD has better specs but then it costs £ 452 ex VAT... the Zinc II is similar on features to the HTC Tytn II and older phone (Sept 2007) but still a superb machine. The Tytn II is still selling for near £ 200 second hand on eBay and these are usually ex contract phones that have been unlocked.

IMO the Zinc II will do everything most HTC Touch HD users will do, if you want a relatively inexpensive way to get into the Windows Mobile world then you can do a lot worse then the Zinc II, even the Ubiqou 503g mentioned earlier is a decent phone if a little older.

Thaks for the info. Due a new phone but I think I'll go with the Touch HD.

Well its £ 320 more expensive... knowing what I know now having paid £ 410 ex VAT for a Tytn II on release I`d get the Zinc II.
#14
Maybe so, but i spend 40 quid a month on a contract anyway so I can get the HTC touchHD free for that.
#15
Ah right you are a heavy contract user, I only spend between £ 5 - £ 10 a month on PayG don't make many phone calls and use perhaps 300mb a month on DATA charged at 1p per MB. I would use it more but I have my broadband for that.

The Zinc II is a nice very phone both in terms of features and looks and the price is very good too, the only alternative I could suggest for similar price is HP 614C Business Navigator from Insight for £ 250 inc VAT and you can get £ 50 cashback at the moment by sending something away to HP.

It has 128mb RAM and 3mpixel camera over the Zinc II but a keypad instead of keyboard and is uglier to look at in some opinions, apparently though the Zinc II runs surprisingly fast while *only* having 64mb RAM so really its not as big a issue as one might expect MWG have done a great job.

All the reviews of the Zinc II look good but most of them are dated back to when it cost £ 300 but they still gave it a good review. I`m not sure how well the 614c was recieved but I`m sure its a good phone as well if thats your sort of thing, really there's not much between them.

nlel1975, Where can you get DATA charged at 1p per MB on PAYG?

I live in Jersey, Channel Islands and Airtel Vodafone here offer DATA at 1p per MB on payG, its great for tethering, I often connect my EEE PC to my Tytn II via Windows Mobile 6.1 ICS function and get full net access, I think its limited to GPRS speeds only though.

I think the price reflects the fact that you can now get mobile broadband for £ 15 a month for 3GB, £ 10 of payG would only buy you 1GB of data at GPRS speeds. If you exceed your mobile broadband quota you get charged DATA at 1p per MB thereafter in line with the payG rates.
