Ordered a set - these will be fine for the occasional knockabout.

Also, looked them up and several sites are selling what appear to be the same set for somewhat more:

at this price i might be tempted to take up golf!!
#6
I guess there ok for a "knock about" on a field.... but the shafts will flex far too much and ruin your game...

With clubs your best to invest more cash than this....

Buy cheap... buy twice...

What if you're going to play once a year at most?

I got some for £100 once, with a trolley and a pair of - as it turned out, completely unwearable - golf shoes. They do me fine for the very occassional smack around.

My statement was not baseless, it was based upon the cost of the set, coupled with my knowledge of the possible variation of golf clubs for somewhat more. But, as people say, for the occasional knock-about they are probably reasonable 'fun'.

I think it would be taken as a given that a £35 set of golf clubs are not good enough for someone who plays twice a week and fancies himself for a wild card entry at the Open.

Don't buy these if you're planning to take golf even remotely seriously!

They'll be ok for anyone wanting to try golf and play the odd game, but I would be concerned about build qaulity/lifespan??? I would always suggest going on ebay or golfbidder and buying some branded clubs that will actually offer some feel and performance if you want a cheap way into the sport! The MX400's will hold no value once you've bought them either....

Be ok for beating off chavs with though won't they?

There is something slightly cool about stopping mid beating and deciding you can actually drop down 2 clubs for the rest of the beating though - you just don't get that level of cool with old skool 2be4.

I would post results but I don't intend on purchasing these at present as I am using some Mizuno irons and Callaway drivers - the results as they bounce off chavs bonce's are astounding - reckon they easily give me 30+ yards on these clubs....

And are therefore NOT 'unplayable'. Talk's cheap - making statements without any evidence whatsoever cools a deal down. Cheap, yeah, and not as good as most expensive clubs, no doubt, but 'unplayable'? A bit damning when you've never held one in your hand, don't you think.

Clearly I don't think that. If you want to smack balls left right and centre and have no idea whatsoever about golf. These are great. And I admit that is fun, if potentially lethal. If you want to 'play golf' you need a playable set of clubs. These are not a playable set of clubs. I stand by my statements and suggest that you would be better off with three clubs of quality, and some kind of putter.

totally agree. no-one can slate these unless they have tried them :whistling:

This may not be a great set of clubs.
However it looks like a good deal for someone starting out, or not too serious about the game.

Ok, no one's probably checking this post anymore, however I got the two sets I ordered delivered today as gifts for two people just starting out.
I have to say they're actually not that bad. They're obviously not up to to top specs, but these are easily at the level of circa £100 starter sets you might pick up in a store.
The bag also isn't bad at all.
For £33.97, you really can't go wrong if you're an infrequent player or are just starting out and don't want to splash the big bucks till you're sure.

Thanks for that. Going to order on your recommendation as my old set must be 20+ years old and I only play around 10 times a year and am pretty awful.

now £50 so i wont bother.

Is this still a good price at £50?
#22
I'd say yes, however I'm not much more than a very average and intermittent player. As I said, I reckon these match some more expensive models for the beginner.
They're not amazing, if I saw these for £50 in a golf store I'd still think they were worth having.
Google the name, or look at the link I posted earlier in the thread, to where they're being sold for more. That's the exact same set that gets delivered, plus they have much better pictures. I was genuinely impressed.

Oh and don't forget you still get 15% off the price with the voucher.
