My Autobiography - Bobby Robson - £2.25 delivered @ Zavvi

Bobby Robson tells his story as a manager in football, from the building up of Ipswich to the present day and tells the inside story of working with Gascoigne, Lineker and others. He is uniquely placed to compare managing of football teams here and in Europe, and talks candidly about the future of the game.

For those of us that were not born, or not old enough to remember 1966, Bobby Robsons England team is the best memory we have of a decent fighting spirited England squad.

yep :roll:obviously knows a lot about football ...not

Its depressing when you compare the strength of the England team in the Italia 90 semi - great players in every position - against the disjointed team we seem to have at the moment....
#10
Whilst i appreciate all Bobby Robson has done....and loved the bloke and had the upmost respect for him....BUT his autobiography was very hard going and may i say, boring in parts....and thats coming from a football fan and a Robson fan.

If you want a GREAT book to read, get the Gazza Autobiography....now THATS a great read

Idiot . Why dont you google the success he had at Ipswich as well as European teams such as PSV , Porto and Barca . A true gent , a legend and a man of honour and integrity . Your remark is inaccurate and disrespectful , and for that you are a fool.

RIP Sir Bobby Robson.

Said the exact same thing to my father in law whilst watching that dross on Friday.
Also was lucky to have met Bobby on two occasions through my job. A true gentleman. Always happy to converse with any fan or wellwisher whatever the social class.

Show some respect you *****. What have YOU done that enables you to judge Sir Bobby, who, let's not forget, turned a limited and unfashionable Ipswich side into a team that went within a whisker of being English champions and won the UEFA Cup, Texaco Cup and F.A. Cup, took an England team to the World Cup semi-finals despite being constantly hounded and savaged by the press in a manner which makes the treatment of the current coach look like jovial banter, won, and retained the following year, the Dutch Championship at PSV, discovered Ronaldo (the proper one, not the preening, winking, diving, greasy-haired sissy boy you think about whilst touching yourself) who is arguably the greatest attacking player of his generation, won the Portuguese Championship twice and the Portuguese Cup at FC Porto, and won 3 Cups at Barcelona before taking Newcastle to the Champion's League... Overrated? Take off your red tinted spectacles and you might see there's a whole world of football outside Manchester, or Surrey, or London, or wherever you 'support' them from.

Agreed - this is a book with very little insight into the man himself, sadly. There's not much in here you couldn't have read in the media and, in keeping with the man himself, it's quite short on convtroversial opinion.

The best part of getting this book was getting it signed... I had 3 copies and was asked to write the names of the person I wanted the autograph made out to on post-it notes and stick them to the front of the book... the meeting with Sir Bobby went something like this...

SBR: Hello Alan, how are you?
Me: I'm great thanks Sir Bobby, but Alan's my dad - I'm Steven.
SBR: Ah I see, sorry about that Steven (picks up next book) - This one's yours! Here you go.
Me: Cheers Sir Bobby, good luck with sales - be nice to see you back in football soon too.
SBR: (picks up next book) Thank you, Dave.

Absolute legend, and unlike the Man Yoo supporting know-nowt above states, not overrated in the slightest. RIP.

"Ray Wilkins' day will come one night.”"

“We didn't underestimate them. They were just a lot better than we thought.”

"We can't replace Gary Speed. Where do you get an experienced player like him with a left foot and a head?"

“The first ninety minutes of a football match are the most important.”

“We're flying on Concorde. That'll shorten the distance. That's self-explanatory.”

Absolute different class - his like will never be seen again, that's a given.
