These things are really amazing. I thought they wouldn't work but after a week or two you get these little fish like things swimming around in your bowl. I remember buying mine with an aquarium for £15! But look at this... They are really worth a try. Great for the kids!!

For more Sea Monkey fun you can try the experiment as performed by Cartman in the South Park episode The Simpsons Already Did It - http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/The_Simpsons_Already_Did_It

before this post, i didnt know that a sea monkey is a real live shrimp thing. So how long do they last or live, and anyone ever had these before? They look ... creepy.

Wikipedia extract (link)
"... unhatched "Sea-Monkeys" to be cheaply packaged, shipped, and handled is that, in certain easily prepared environments, they enter cryptobiosis, a natural state of suspended animation. When released into their aquarium they leave this state and smash through the inner shell walls.

Sea-Monkeys can reproduce both sexually (requiring a male and a female) and asexually. When the eggs are produced, there are fewer males than females, probably because they are not essential for reproduction. Females stop reproducing with the males when the males are too few.

Sea-Monkeys have been cited in studies of DNA and sexual behavior, primarily because they are commonly available specimens."

LOL... didn't Cartman go and see a tramp... where he closed his eyes and sucked on a hose to get sea men. That was a wicked episode.

Again I feel obliged to point out that Deal Extreme aren't the most reliable supplier, myself and many others have had missing and/or broken goods, and DX have ignored our requests for replacement goods.
Caveat emptor.

bought this item a while ago, most the eggs hatched but then most of them died but about 7 lived and made more babies!

These are great for about a month. Then they start getting smelly and difficult to clean out properly.
My kids are still talk about them being dropped on the kitchen floor, and me spending ages trying to syringe them back into the tank.
I bought quite a few stocking fillers from DX.. On the whole, goods were disappointing, and I would not buy from there again.
