MyHermes have just lowered their parcelshop courier service to £1.99+vat (£2.39).

You have to take the parcel to a parcelshop to be collected via MyHermes but it will be delivered to the recipients house.

Must weight upto 1KG.

The Hermes Drop Shop service allows you to drop your parcel in to one of their many outlets hence saving you having to wait in for the driver to collect! Provided your parcel is dropped off before 12 noon it will be delivered within two working days. Whilst every effort will be made to do this it cannot be guaranteed.
Up to £20.00 FREE compensation with extra compensation available to the value of £1,000.00.

Myhermes are brilliant in my opinion. Yes they do have their little issues, but what courier doesn't? Over the past 3 years i have sent around 270 parcels with them all ranging in price from £10 to £300, and only two have ever been "misplaced" or damaged. On both occasions the customer services were helpful and full compensation was provide. Now in comparison with RM, I have sent considerably less parcels, and have had more items go missing/get damaged, and all the form fillings & waiting around, and calling here and there is a headache.

Having an item signed for is £1 extra, and if the item does get left somewhere without a signature then compensation is immediately issued as you've done your bit with the costs

I personally refuse to use MyHermes, for myself, they just seem to turn up when they want regardless of pickup time (I appreciate this post is a drop off service). I have even had a customer who 'claimed' they left the parcel I had dispatched in a green wheelie bin (of all places) for the recycle men to then come round and empty the bin.

What are the actual sizes of these £2.39 1kg parcels? The Royal Mail small parcels are also upto 1kg and cost £2.80 second class and have a increased chance of getting there before the MyHermes ;)

Agree that Hermes offer a great service at a great price. For ebaying and similar things with items slightly bigger than a letterbox this price can't be touched. After losing numerous things through Royal Mail and significant price increases while the service deteriorated I switched to Hermes and haven't had a problem in two years. Highly recommended.

MyHermes are terrible. They left a rather expensive piece of electrical equipment out side my front door exposed to the weather and to anyone passing. Fortunately for me a neighbour took it in before it rained or got nicked.

Myhermes are awesome, love that I can track parcels so easy and don't spend ages with a measuring tape

They are much better than Royal Mail, last 3 parcels with Royal Mail I've sent total value £600 have all gone missing, their customer service is a complete joke! I like the fact I can drop off at the shop with myhermes and you do tick a box to say you want a signature on delivery or not.

Read a lot of negative reviews about myHermes but i have used them now about 10 times & everything has been delivered safely. Always pay the extra 90 odd pence for signature on collection.

Exclusions say anything electrical and also batteries, so I guess I can't post a dslr camera with then?

Not being pedantic, but this isn't a reduction by MyHermes it's by Parcel2Go. P2G only offer £20 compensation and are a third party reseller if anything goes wrong.

If it's valuable send it via Royal Mail Special Delivery.

Also 1-2kg £3.59 instead of £3.78

Parcel2go offer £10 free first parcel and £5 extra when you top up £100.

One issue with parcel2go is if you buy insurance it cost £11 instead of £3 with myhermes and yes £20 free insurance instead of £50 at hermes site

Holy Moly, don't use these people! Appalling service.

Even it was free, it'd be colder than a very cold thing.

Obviously a mixed bag. I have had no problems whatsoever after using them 5 times. I would recommend the signed for option at £1 extra though which eliminates a lot of the problems mentioned above.

Nearest parcel shop to me is 18 miles away unfortunately. Great price otherwise, and I've never had a problem with MyHermes.

Used this service last week but for the slightly heavier parcel at £3.49 Used them again about an hour ago for the same service, 2 parcels. Will see how it goes, I also add on the extra for a signed delivery.

Just used Hermes this morning for a parcel < 1kg and its still £2.78 on their website?

Now sent 92 shipments with them with no problems, all delivered well within 5 working days, sadly the same can't be said of some of the parcels I've recently sent via Royal Mail.

AS others have said, Service is fine for low value, non fragile packages. ELECTRICAL ITEMS ARE NOT COVERED BY INSURANCE. Even though you can buy it at checkout :)

We use MyHermes to send our parcels to customers, we have sent over 1000 parcels so far and only around 5 have been damaged / left outside and gone missing. But the Parcel2Go makes the claim process very easy and we get our money back without any problems.

Dreadful company! Pointless paying extra insurance for any form of electrical goods, you will find that you have no insurance cover if something goes wrong. I have had a few MyHermes deliveries smashed to bits, just do a google search for the same problem..

By the same token, we've sent out over 7000 small packets with Royal Mail this year and only had one go missing. So it's swings and roundabouts.

I've used hermes for hundreds of parcels and had no more issues then you'd expect from say the Royal Mail, no doubt there's genuine reports of hermes white van men mistreating their parcels, but it's not reflective of their service on whole and they are less hassle to claim from than the Royal Mail.

It may just depend on your location! All postal services in Croydon are terrible! 1 in 5 packages will get lost [stolen]. Royal mail even seemed to lose my special delivery package at their warehouse! Hermes even left one of my packages under the car in the rain but didn't leave a note! I suspect they have a good service in better area's...

thx saved me a quid :)

myhermes are great, I have used them a lot in the past year, I must have sent over 30 parcels and not a single one was lost and you can track your parcel to.

I know someone who bought a computer on ebay, it was delivered by MyHermes, when he opened the box there was an old tower with a few loose computer parts and a power pack inside, the seller claim he never sent the parcel like that, after many emails and photo's, friend got his money back, seller made a claim to MyHermes, turns out it must of been tampered with at the storage depot.

But I personally haven't had any problems with them, I've dropped at shop and collected from house.

You realize Hermes is owned by HDNL (Home Delivery Network Limited) which recently changed names to, low and behold, Yodel.

So technically they are the same. They don't own their drivers so thats why things get damaged and go missing so quickly as the contracts are on a week by week basis.

PAPP, PARP! Dubious eBay, "I never sent it like that..." excuse klaxon alert!
