OK this price isn't low but if anybody is after nostalgia, this DVD boxset is exclusive to HMV.

This has never been available in the UK except on Flea Bay which were substandard copies. This has a substantial cult following!

This will be released in March of this year. Get it on pre-order.

In the year 1532, a Spanish orphan named Esteban joins a party of Spaniards in their search for one of The Seven Cities of Gold in the New World, hoping to find his father. He is joined on his quest by Zia, an Incan girl, and Tao, the last descendant of the sunken empire of Mu ("Hiva" in the English dub).

The series is a mix of ancient South American history, archaeology, and science fiction. Esteban, Zia, and Tao encounter the Mayans, Inca, and Olmecs during their journey. The characters discover many lost technological wonders of the Mu Empire, including a solar powered ship (the Solaris) and The Golden Condor, a huge solar-powered would-be ornithopter (mechanical bird), capable of traveling considerable distances under the sun's power alone. They are constantly pursued by antagonists Gomez and Gaspard, who are also in search of the Cities of Gold.

It is the 16th century. From all over Europe great ships sale west to conquer the New World, the Americas. These men eager to seek their fortune, to find new adventures in new lands. They long to cross uncharted seas and discover unknown countries. To find secret gold on a mountain trail high in the Andes. They dream of following the path of the setting sun that leads to Eldorado, and the Mysterious Cities Of Gold.

For me it has to be Phillip Schofield Broom Cupboard Singalong.

Maybe one day we will all find the Cities of Gold. On second thoughts, the karoke options sounds great!

I love MCoG, but I can't vote hot at this price. Didn't vote cold either though.

Hey guys, go easy.

I am just alerting people to the fact that MCoG has finally arrived.

The price is sure to drop sometime, so please vote it hot and get it noticed.

Mysterious Cities of Gold on DVD? Has it finally arrived?

I've waited years for this. It's only been available in France and Canada.

I'm in heaven!!!:w00t:

Wow that took its time... all the rest of the nostalgia TV from the 80s was out so long ago..

I got a bootleg set about 8 years ago and watched about 1/3 of it..wasnt as good as I remember..
#7
Won't vote it hot, as thats a ridiculous price....but I still want it!!!!
#8
Great, it's finally out! :w00t:

It was listed on play.com as "Coming Soon" for ages now, but I was starting to think it would never be released... I guess HMV are just the first to stock it, rather than it being completely exclusive to them?

Anyway, I'll have to get hold of it when the price goes down, I loved it when I was a kid. Voted hot for letting us know about it

It was on play for almost two years as 'coming soon'. This is hot to me, because watching all 39 eps over and over on **** copies is making me need glasses, whereas this will stop the rot!

We do not advocate using bootlegs on Ebay. Wait for the official release.

FREMANTLE is the official distributor.

What I meant is that I have the complete collection on VCD but I would prefer and plan to buy the official DVD set as the bootleg version is not the best quality ;-)

Plus it's VCD which means that it was brought several years ago, back in 2000 I believe when dodgy DVDs had yet to take off...

Some of the ebay DVDs are very good indeed, as they have come from Tim Skutt, who remastered them to the best of his ability himself. In fact, I believe that he was even asked to be involved in the official dvd release.

That is a lie. Tim Scutt was involved in the bootleg versions.

Fabulous Films USA are doing the remastering. This is from official releases from France and Canada who have the master copies.

We do not advocate purchasing fakes from Ebay. :x

I resent that comment from you, and do not appreciate being called a liar without any evidence. I got this info from the MCOG Yahoo groups, of which Tim Skutt is obviously a member, and he has posted about helping Richard Walker at Fabulous Films regarding the new dvds. Yep, it has been available abroad on DVD/VHS but not with a English language soundtrack.

Further Details: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/The_Mysterious_Cities_of_Gold

Amazon Fr have the french DVD versions: http://amazon.fr/s/ref=nb_ss_w?__mk_fr_FR=%C5M%C5Z%D5%D1&url=search-alias%3Daps&field-keywords=Mysterious+Cities+Of+Gold&Go.x=0&Go.y=0&Go=Go
With MCoG being released in 2008, lets hope more retro stuff is brought on DVD especially The Magician staring Bill Bixby :pirate:

P.S I also like the 2nd series of Adam Adamant to be brought out as well :)

One other thing about Tim Skutt, was that he always said he would stop sending out MCOG DVDs, the moment someone claimed the rights to MCOG in English. One of the main reasons Tim made the dvds was so that all the English speaking fans were able to watch this (and to a high quality).
Warmapplepie will be glad to note that as soon as Tim was informed that the rights for MCOG had been clarified, and Fabulous Films were making the DVD, he stopped shipping out his own DVDs. But I'm sure you were already aware of this.

We do not advocate unfounded accusations on hukd. :x
