Posted this during the ebuyer banned season so subsequently got removed.

Great deal for a NAS enclosure, if you got a spare IDE drive hanging about as IDE drives cost loads nowadays, like double than sata drives.

Good for topping your balance over 50 quid for free delivery.

Can't see a SATA version anywhere for this price, if you do let us know. Thanks

Also for those of you on vista you need to upgrade the firmware and to upgrade you need to use internet explorer as i spent hours using firefox to do this and it didn't work.

Really really cheap for NAS as opposed to USB enclosure!

Hot!

Hot deal, on the lookout for a decent dual sata one though, that support NTFS

garethyoung, do you have a link for the ledshoppe sata one? took a peek but couldn't see anything :)
#7
Would be useful if it supported AV UPNP!!!
#8

Great price thanks ordered to make up to £50

One thing to bear in mind with NAS is they don't tend to power of or go into power save mode, so the hard disks do take a hammering from spinning 24/7, ok if you just turn it on when needed.

I can't vouch that this has the same issue, but all the more expensive ones I've seen do. Still a damn good price though, shame it's not SATA else I'd have one.

ouch £13 delivery for N.Ireland

I know!!!!:x - It's been that way for too long now, about time they joined the Big retailers and scrapped their NI surcharge
#16
Thanks, looks good.

I'll report on if it does power save when i receive it. Although chose super saver delivery as the price for next day is a joke.
#17
thanks. just what i need.
#18
Great price, just a shame its IDE only otherwise I would buy one

They don't even reduce it over £50 (when it becomes free for everyone else)

ledshoppe isnt that US? Also.. its tacky to say you bought something from them... Without seeing that someone has found a deal abotu NAS enclosure.. Not your run of the mill SATA enclosure.

I found ledshoppe site very badly designed and NAS products didnt appear. Please post a link or description if you say you bought something which you believe was cheaper or better..its just helpful.

Also, MSE site string about Ledshoppe seems to say they are ok. http://forums.moneysavingexpert.com/showthread.html?t=666583

this string above compares LEDSHOPPE to Deal Extreme.and some people pass a verdict that they are same as... But I disagree.. Deal Extreme is amazing and cheap and no postage cost makes them my favoutire and the returns department is a charm to deal with...

Anyway back to topic.. This NAS Ethernet enclosure at this price is good deal..and well done to Slider for putting it up in the way he has...with description and he has covered all points why you could go for one...metiones the cost of IDE drives these days...

Hope to see more of these around.

This looks very much like a generic one I've seen before. Works OK as USB but dog slow as a NAS:

Excellent price. Now, who'd like to sell me a 500gb IDE drive on the cheap? ;)

First post :D

So who pays the extra cost of shipping to NI?

Whoever pays amazon, play, viking, dixons, currys and the likes.... given the hundreds of REALLY good ebuyer deals that have been posted on here I have never ordered anything from them.

the NAS I have spins down, no idea what make it is.

Downside is that is doesnt work with Vista, something to do with SAMBA I think, it locks Vista up.

I use it as a USB drive now, just share the whole drive and it works fine on the network.

People with Vista could do with checking that it supports it if you want the NAS part

Does anyone know if this would be able to be connected to an xbox360 via USB but still be accessible via the LAN (so that media file can be updated from a pc)

Why not buy a cheap hub and connect Xbox, NAS and PC all via LAN?

I think I might get this to feed my XBMC...

Because the 360 cant see a NAS if it doesn't have a upnp server

I'll have to remember that, thanks for the info... the last time I connected my Xbox360 to my PC I just used a standard shared folder and it worked fine, I don't remember configuring upnp on the PC. Unless it did it when I set up the shared folder?
#33
I think they mean DLNA

Not sure about this one but my NAS cant use usb and lan at the same time

First post so hope this is useful.

Manual for this is here:

http://www.digimate.co.uk/download/manual/ES038%20User%20Manual.pdf

Looks like it can power down :)

But it only accepts FAT32 formatted disks :x

Might still buy a couple to use for the 250Gb disks that will be replaced by the 1Tb SATA ;-)
#36
I had a 300gb IDE drive to connect to a SATA only motherboard and got a SATA <> IDE adapter off of ebay/Deal Extreme for about £6. It does what it's meant to. I guess with one of these you could buy the NAS and plug a SATA drive into it, still quite cheaply. Wouldn't be great for performance, but this review seems down on the performance anyway!
http://www.reviewspring.com/landisk-ns347-nas-a89.php

Note that the adapter is about 1inch long, (and as wide as an IDE ribbon), so it might be a tight squeeze fitting it inside the NAS, if it fits at all.

Anyone had any observations about the performance?

How loud is this, because I have an iomega one which drives me crazy at night cause of the noise of the fan.

I have a old IDE hard drive from a old computer which has quite a few photos on. Can this be used to connect my hard drive to my laptop to get the photos off? and is this easy to do?

If you moved to England you would save on the postage but get ripped off on everything else.
