the price is a bit steep, you can pickup other ide nas enclosures for a lot cheaper, last time i looked they were areound the £8-10 mark as places are trying to clear them out because they are old technology

a cut and paste of the details would be useful too...

Ive got an old ide drive after upgrading my pc,gonna store all my music on this to link to a PHILIPS WAS6500 internet radio.Looked for ages and this is the cheapest i could find!

Sorry, but that is not the case ...

Streaming music would take up less than 500kbps typically , depending upon the encoding (FLAC being the highest quality)

High def video would typically be less than 7Mbs

Also, consider that the streaming applications i.e. Windows Media player etc also buffer the content prior to playing.

I have a NAS enclosure similat to the one shown and it streams fine

incorrect, an ide hd far surpasses the speed needed for most things - the newer versions were 133MB/s - which is faster than gigabit ethernet....

in pre-sata days and for home office pcs (generally excluding the need for scsi) ide was the norm...
