I did read the OP.
I do touring in the UK/EU but for a week at a time - a summer or winter shoe is all you need, unless you're in the Sahara I can't see any value in these. I'm also fairly sure that even those in the tropics are not cycling in sandals, they instead choose a well vented summer shoe. Touring could be a 2-3 day jaunt in the UK, perhaps be more specific if you feel their use case is such.
You're right on the voting though, your link cites them at 69USD, which is 45GBP. Therefore, this isn't a good deal, which is why it got less hot votes than a 25GBP pair or slippers...
Enjoy your next trans-continental cycling journey in your sandals!

I'm not sure how you could have missed the following screenshot;

£40.45 DELIVERED including all taxes and import fees.

Also, cycle touring for a week is hardly what these sandals are designed for. Once again, have a read of the following article - it sums things up nicely. OR look at the 180+ 4.5* reviews ;)

I guess if everyone voted in the way you did (i.e., without looking at the info presented), then it is little wonder that this deal didn't get very hot.

But the more interesting thing is that a US cycling discounter is offering free delivery to the UK, with regular 25% discounts. If you like cheap cycling gear, then it doesn't get much cheaper

No.
I cycle daily have multiple pairs of SPD and have never felt the need to wear sandals, not habe I seen anybody on my commute or at my club wearing them.
That makes them useless.

If you read the OP, you would have seen that I specifically said these were suited for CYCLE TOURERS ;). Not the Mamil's of this world, or the morning commuters...

I am talking about the kind of cyclist that will travel for weeks, months or even years on end. the sort that travel through different latitudes, and experience a whole range of temperatures/weather. For those kind of cyclists, these sandals are absolutely perfect.

But don't take my word for it;

(P.S. - this website works best when people vote on the merits of the deal, rather than the individual preferences they have for the product ;) )

Terrible and useless.

Passing judgement on a product you don't own and have never used? Thanks for the useful insight ;)

180+ 4.5* reviews don't lie though. If you cycle in hot countries, or cycle long distances, then SPD sandals are THE footwear to have.

*EDIT - £25 for a pair of slippers ? oO.
Multi function SPD sandals for just £15 more, delivered from the US...a serious bargain by comparison, wouldn't you agree? ;)
