Not suprising they are this price - i went through 2 diff sets of these last xmas and could not get a decent signal between the handsets. Very poor communication and the only way i could get the slightest smidging of a 2 way conversation was to stand next to my little boy, literally right next to him.

Great price, poor product.

#4
Bargain. Nice find. Heat and rep added :)
#5
None in my local (Merton), but good find for those who can get hold of them

2 faulty sets then, although they are not brilliant they work a lot better than that. My 2 children got these as a christmas present from someone and my 8 year gave one to his mate across the road and they were sneakily chatting away at night after bedtime.

Ah. Could do with these when me and the other half are on the Xbox!

'KSchk. Tango behind you, North by North-east. Tango behind you, North by North-east, over. KSchk.'

Class. :D

Blimey, that's cheap. Although if they're as bad as the first poster says, might be better just talking loudly to the other person!
#11
receipt?
#12
same experience as in the first post for me, absolutely useless, great price but dont buy them for anyone you actually like. Heat and rep added but they are only worth 9p.
#13
AArrgh! I've just paid £12 online for these - hacked off ....:? but a great bargain for someone

Ditto everthing you've said there. My child got these for christmas, we was really dissapointed.

Yes, have to agree with other critical comments. I bought a set of these for my kids and found them utterly useless. Subsequently they got bought another pair by well-intentioned rellies which were just as bad. The buzzer function works up to about 10ft, which is handy if your littluns are learning morse, but otherwise the 9p would be better spent on two tins of value beans and a length of string. Quite surprised as NG seems a credible brand.

if its 9p - you have no right to complain tbh
#17
wow! but im sure i wont find it in my local

why not?

they dont work, 9p for something that dont work is not a good deal, no matter what your saving on rrp
#21
yep

to echo the other posters, i bought these for my kids at christmas , thinking that the NG branding should mean a fairly reasonable product. they are just tat, i took mine back and got a refund.

But they would most probably work 10x better lol ;-)
#25
I know they are cheap but please read the posts, they are complete rubbish.
#26
I'm only in my late twenties but when I was a kid we had to try to use yoghurt pots and piece of string... which I'm sure never worked... amazing the cool gadgets kids have access to these days...
#27
Still no reciept??

A WASTE OF TWO 9v BATTERIES

Total rubbish

All these toy walkie talkies are based around the same low power technology as remote key fobs and are deliberately weak signal so as not to possibly interefere with anything. They don't work beyond a few meteres range - if they work at all out of the package. It was different some years ago with US-sourced 49MHz toys which could sometimes operate over hundreds of metres - or more.
I would not spend 9p on this unless perhaps there were free alkaline batteries included...
If you want a walkie talkie buy a proper one ... PMR.

Why buy junk just 'cus it's cheap?
#31
it maks me laugh when people just vote it hot coz it's 9p
#32
what's going on here? - a poor quality product - broad consensus in the postings - and the heat is very very high? When I voted cold earlier today the temperature went up? Still learning about this HUKD thing ....

Agreed. Just because someone posts a great priced deal people vote hot even if its not available anywhere. Surely you should only vote if its available and a good deal / product.

Cold from me ;-(

Dear oh dear, 654 Degrees???????????????

DO NOT BUY !!!
These are Absolute Rubbish. I got my kids these for Christmas last year. What a waste of good batteries. LEAVE WELL ALONE!!! I even felt so guilty selling these at a car boot sale I decided to bin them !!!!!

Leave the batteries out for the same result (yes they are so bad).

This year I bought a pair for £15 from Maplin. A little more than the RRP of these but REAL WALKIE TALKIES WORK. These National Geographic walkie talkies don't (even between rooms in the home) these are a poor quality toy IT'S AS SIMPLE AS THAT!!!.

Indeed the more expensive ones that can do mutiple channels.etc are pretty good, I had a set that was bought a few years ago (cost more than £15 back then) and you could pick all sorts up on them, depending on the area.etc they'd go about a mile or 2.

I actually ended up giving them to a friend as i wasn't using them, Given that real 2 way radios can be bought for under £20 go for miles and are much more usefull i'd say this is a cold deal.
