errr - I said "my" not "the". Surely i'm allowed an opinion on something.

Reasons i hate Ikea:
1: Furniture is overpriced chipboard crap that fall aparts after 6 months

2: Styling is touted as contemporary, but in reality lacks any styling or imaginaton.

3: I hate the store layout which shepherds you where they want you to go, not where you want to go.

4: The fact they don't bother cleaning the place - feels like a warehouse floor, walking around.

5: Their furniture is overpriced chipboard crap (it needed saying again)

meh Clipper.

1. Some but not all of their furniture is chipboard which isnt a bad thing. Fall apart? this is ikea not argos!
2. Couldnt be more wrong
3. The store layout is genius and alot more interesting and enjoyable shopping experience.
4. Im sure they do clean the place. The staff are always helpful and well trained.
5. Again, not all chipboard. I agree that furniture such as the Lack tables are cheaply produced and at £1.25 a table they are well overpriced :p

Firstly, the op has posted details of a sale. If you dont like the store why are you posting that you dont like the store (basically just for an argument) but actually no one really cares whether you like it or not! Then you get upset when someone posts about your comment! Well why did you make it on this thread then....
I have a lot of kids and Ikea is fantastic. Strong, sturdy and easily replacable if my autistic child throws a wobbler.
The store is easily negotiable (and shepherd has a second 'e' not an a).
The style is easily accessable to a large number of people and easy for families.
The store I visit is clean and the staff are great.
I have yet to buy a chipboard item, so suggest you may have only bought crap?
Try it again, you may be surprised.

I have quite a few items from Ikea in my kids rooms...bookcases and wardrobes. They have managed to travel all the way from Australia without any problem, so have to say they are pretty sturdy. Other, more expensive furniture fared less well. Ikea is great for bargains that look pretty good. Thanks for the heads up OP. :D (Oh, and Clipper, no need to be so aggressive when someone has simply misread your comment. Mistakes happen, life goes on...and I thought I was grumpy!)

Cardiff's sale started on 22 Feb so this is not a national sale date - each store tends to have slightly different dates. Check this post for Cardiff sale items (different to items listed in OP):

The quality of their stuff seems really good for the price when compared to the likes of Homebase/Argos etc.

savagevixen- you're right, it probably wasn't worth posting and nobody does care whether I like it or not. I didn't get upset - I just replied to maid20279 - who made a sarcastic comment.

It is a good deal if you like ikea - I just think those knock down prices should be permanent ones.

Find me a link to a decent bit of furniture, that isn't chip board and is reasonably priced. I may be surprised.

Btw - if anyone was looking for an argument its was you. Petty things like pointing out spelling mistakes and using a patronising tone says something about you, not me. Sorry if I angered you.

lol, its hardly a stupid comment, people are allowed to have their own views on which stores they like and dislike.

I use but don't care for Ikea and yet I begrudge the fact that I moved to a place without an Ikea nearby. It is not as cheap as it makes out but it isn't Argos crap. It fulfils a purpose I suppose and even more so at sale prices.

Lol, much better post! Wasn't patronising you and there is no tone in text... The post that I copied and quoted (and corrected the sp on) was the most argumentative and patronising post on the page! Read it back to yourself. Not a single comment on your post was made for any reason other than to provoke argument! Trying to turn it to me is ridiculous. When you make posts like you did, you should spell it correctly or your lose your meaning and look a bit silly. The spelling of your posts says a lot more about you than me. And yes I do like to see words spelt correctly (;o0 you are lucky, I don't usually bother to respond to anyone with sp mistakes)
I for one was delighted to read of the sale, I need a couple of bits and was going tomorrow, I will now wait till friday and see what is there.
Err also that comment is not true, you were not just replying to maid, the first comment on the whole thread is yours, where you announce that Ikea is you most hated store....

I just don't understand why you would post your personal preferences on a thread about Ikea? The info is for people who like Ikea! I don't write on threads about easter eggs, that I personally don't like easter eggs. That would be weird and pointless.

You might write a post about an easter egg offer if you thought the egg was hugely overpriced and tasted like crap. Like you say, no big deal.

I normally wait for a good deal to pop up at M&S or john lewis. If looking for a cheap deal - auctions. Lots of quality furniture out there .

i love Ikea, but i do find the whole experience a very good example of human nature. The 'arrows' steering customers are a prime example. We used to live about 10 minutes from Ikea so went there quite regularly. Because we knew the layout of the store we would take our own more direct route to where we wanted. The reaction of the 'sheep' varied from angry to confusion - boarding on fear.

There is absolutely nothing wrong with Ikea bathroom and kitchen units imho

And I think it is a big deal... It was profet that didn't.... You, didn't say it was overpriced and crap... you said it was your most hated store. (Therefore not relevant to the deal posted at all)
