The Jungle Antquarium is a complete environment for plants and ants, which get all their nutrition and water from the space gel. Three different species of plant seeds are enclosed, as well as full instructions on how to collect ants from your garden or nearby woodland. Have fun watching as the ants produce an amazing network of tunnels in the gel and see if the plants take root. In May 2000 a NASA Space Shuttle had an Antquarium on board to observe how animals behave in zero gravity. Beware of copies and imitations - Antquarium is the first and only gel habitat tested in space!

If you want some ants I'm constantly trying to get rid of the little sods from my garden.. ;)

Got two of these already - suggestion don't break the gel up in anyway or the little b****** don't do any work.

And i for one welcome our new insect overlords

yeah i had one of these for christmas. Biggest disappointment ever! Put about a dozen ants in there and they didnt do a sodding thing! Just took in turns to die on me. Great fun!

Where did you find them at Xmas ? they are usually well underground then. Only showing after Easter usually, which reminds me must go and find some for the farms.

Oh and BTW you're supposed to release them every 2 weeks.

I had one of these too. I even bought the recommended ants (including a queen off) of ebay. They all died apart from the last two which I released through guilt. They did not eat any of the gel and it all felt a bit cruel as there was no sort of environment for them to live in.

This is a game type for Hannibal the cannibal.

Have to agree with some of the posts - I bought one of these around Christmas time and after great difficulty in finding any ants, they all died after frantically trying to escape via the lid! I might have just been unlucky also though.
