Has anyone received their copy yet?

£38, €38 or $38 - good value as it is, we're getting stiffed again compared to the rest of the world...

How do you figure, you get paid in the pound, you pay less tax than a lot of European countries and the cost of living is lower than some (granted not many but some).

Does anyone other than students and academics read this? Surely there is free access through schools and universities?

**** universities wont give you free access, but i'm sure there are people like me who have finished in academia now yet would still like to have access to some journals, although nature is a bit broad for me tbh, if it were nature chemistry I might buy a subscription for this price though

Why expired? The deal's still on.
Slightly irritating that it's £36 (give or take) when $36 is less than £23 and even €36 is a significant saving. Still a great deal, but would be even better if we didn't get ripped off because the £ is such a strong currency.
Thank you for finding this deal OP. Instant access to online content after paying was a nice bonus!

Abhorrent and unethical
Advances in scientific knowledge should be free for everybody.

Ridiculous argument. So you're saying publishers should somehow magic up the money to edit, collate, print and distribute these articles? So should all technology magazines be free on the shelf? What about archaeological journals with new historical information?

In fact a lot of these articles are available for free. Not only are relevant wikipedia articles updated regularly to reflect new info, but hundreds of journals are freely accessible, for example to university students and NHS employees through their institutions. That already constitutes a huge number of people. Not to mention the often vast selection available in public libraries.

At this price, for those interested, the latest scientific advances delivered to your door in physical form is more than reasonable.

My housemates and I split the subscription cost, looking forward to receiving the first issue!
The research funders would cough up the cost, Einstein. It will be the norm in the next decade or so and the publishing crooks who currently contribute to the avoidable deaths of thousands of people (with your moronic support) may be able to sleep more soundly.
Read up on the open access movement before embarrassing yourself on a public forum again.

Brilliant find - thanks
Nice find. I've just got a B.Sc. in Biological Sciences and will be taking a year or two out before applying for a masters so this should keep me up to date with what's going on
