Just seen a TV advert stating NatWest will guarantee to beat your renewal by £25 (£35 for upgraded account holders), also in addition you can make monthly payments at 0% APR.

it just so happens mine is up for renewal so i will save the £35 plus another £25ish from the 0% part.

- believe it is existing NatWest customer only.

A few T&Cs that should have been mentioned in the OP:

If you’re a NatWest customer and currently have home insurance with another provider, we’re offering you a great discount. If our quote isn’t at least £25 cheaper than your current home insurance premium or renewal quote (from your existing provider) we will beat it by £25.

What's more, if you're an Advantage Gold or Private customer, we will Guarantee to Beat your renewal quote by at least £35

A Membership fee of £12.95 applies to Advantage Gold accounts and £19.95 applies to Advantage Private accounts.

How it Works

1. Get a quote
2. We will apply any discounts you are eligible for
3. If your quote isn't already at least £25 (or £35 for Advantage Gold and Private customers) cheaper than your current premium or renewal quote for your existing provider, call our UK customer service team.

This offer is available to existing NatWest customers who take out a policy. It applies to new home insurance customers in the first year only. Cover must be on a like for like basis and you must not have suffered a burglary in the last 12 months, nor made more than two claims in the last three years. Excludes Elite Home. Available on all policies quoted by 31 October 2010. Quotes are valid for 90 days. You must provide proof of your existing provider's premium/renewal quote.

Cold.

The problem is the renewal price is inflated to start with. Do a moneysupermarket (or wherever) comparison and you'll almost certainly get it loads cheaper anyway - even from the same provider!

Renewal prices are a complete rip off - they 'work' because most people are just too lazy to shop around and automatically stump up the renewal.

So, forget "we will beat renewal price" offers

Might not be that good, they will just beat your renewal does not make them cheap you may find another quote even cheaper

I think this is owned by RBS isnt it? if so, my insurance was under them for last 3 years and I made a claim for a flood in kitchen in 2008 am still waiting for them to sort it out! It happened in Aug 08 and they didnt repair the ceiling til the week before xmas and that was because I insisted that its a health hazard in a food area!, so hopefully those taking it up will have better luck than Im having..........as I say my kitchen is still a mess and we have had to take it to the ombudsman for poor service.

offer is still valid, but beware i just got my policy docuements today, 9due to start in a few days) and the cover was minimal, no where near what i used to have, rang them to ask if they were going to match my present cover was was told it was like for like, as in contents for contents, key cover for key cover, but the limits were less than half what i had, no shed cover, no mobile phone cover, £300 cash maximum, and a lot of things not included, very disappointed with nat west, went back to my present provider
