There are problems with the windscreen mount on these units - (see feedback on ebuyer) - Ebuyer are saying they will replace the mounts with a stronger version if people have problems; but I feel I can't reccomend this item so am expiring my deal ;-)

OK - I know the original Navigo has been cheaper; but I've been waiting for the Version 2 to drop in price (it had been £64.99).

I won't post the full specs (you can see them yourself) Suffice to say that according to the reviews and comments on the ebuyer forums it does everything the original Navigo did (but with an updated look and perhaps a slightly better screen).

The old Navigo 3.5" keeps popping back into stock at ebuyer for £64.99 - but with very low stock - possibly customer returns being resold?

19-Sep: The price did bump up 28p yesterday but it's back to £54.99 today.
(the widescreen price is still unchanged at £70.00)

Instructions for setting up Active Sync on the V2 can be found here: http://forums.ebuyer.com/showthread.php?t=30494

I just got the widescreen version delivered today.

I'm going to load Tomtom onto it tonight and see how it performs and post back later.

By all accounts it should work just fine - good luck :)

would this be a case of doing the exact same process as on the other navigo?
is the software the same?

Supposedly Tomtom is 'unstable' on the the widescreen version ...... not sure about the new V2 one. :?

V1 version is solid running Tomtom ... V1 can still be bought from Dealextreme but it costs more.

It's good, but not as good as the original , according to reviews, and this has been the price for weeks, except now they have THIS model, the old one is dearer at 65 quid!

I'm running many apps on my Navigo 3.5" V1 which I got from eBuyer when they were £49.99 back in March or April of this year.

Most used are iGO V8 and TomTom V7.
#9
Broke the screen on my Version1 - anybody got any ideas?
#10
does anyone know where to get the lastest tomtom for my navigo and does it have places of intrest and speed cameras.

thanks from John

It has NOT been this price for weeks (it may have been this price when you looked weeks ago). :whistling:

When I started looking two weeks ago there was still stock of the V1 it was £54.99 and the V2 and Widescreen were at £64.99. Foolishly I didn't buy in time and a week or so ago the stock on V1 ran out and the widescreen price went up to £70.

Today the price on the V2 has dropped to £54.99 - which is when I bought it :)

It's too late for me but can you link to some of the reviews that say it's not as good as the original - I was only going by what folk on ebuyer were saying about it.

It was the price for the v1 for weeks... I had even posted on several threads suggesting it rather than some other units, at that very price.

The reviews on the site imply that it's not as good. (not that eBuyer necessarily shows them all!) ie. No SD card access and problems with TomTom set-up - it appears cut down to the orig version 1, as might be guessed by the 65 quid price tag on the orig one now.

All that said,. I still think it sounds every bit as good as some of the units posted on this site, and not enough problems shown to put people off.

As I said at the top of the deal - the V1 has been this price and cheaper - this is by £10 the cheapest I've seen the V2.

What's that about SD access :?

No SD Card access? - don't understand what that means - it seems to have a SD Card slot.

The reviews that I have read on Ebuyer dont have any negative comments on this model in comparison to Mk1 models - am I missing a negative review?

Sorry, I was doing two other things at the time, so I wrote complete drivel there!... I MEANT no ACTIVESYNC access, whereas the v1 has!

(Some tripe about a workaround, but that's not posted)

Hi thanks for the clarification (for the record I'd rather be buying the old model - I think it looks better; but I couldn't find it cheaply at a reliable seller).

Reading the comment on ebuyer (see below) I think the poster was confused and the ebuyer reply was a polite and professional way of saying rtfm.;-)

This satnav can't connect with windows active sync anymore.

Ebuyer Comment - This unit can connect to active sync. For instructions on how to do this, please contact ebuyer customer services.

Hi, sorry I'm new to this, I would just like to clarify is it better to buy V1 and pay that little bit extra or is better to just get this one, I am looking to buy one for my dad for xmas and was going to get a tomtom but seeing as they are a bit dearer and on these you can use software from tomtom should I just get one of these??? :?
#18
What exactly is the difference between this and the V1 apart from the V1 looks alot better visually? And the price obviously.

Still voted hot as it's a good little SatNav for the price.

Does anyone else get that stupid pop-up now on Ebuyer asking to take their survey which doesnt disappear when you click either of the buttons?!!!! :x

Review from eBuyer

"I got one of these for the wife as I've owned the previous model for ages. To rest minds at ease, let me tell you that this unit does everything the last one did. TomTom was up and running in less than 10 minutes and it's a sturdy piece of kit!"

Seems they have decided to copy the Garmin nüvi looks which unfortunately ain't all that, but no doubt cheaper to manufacture.
#20
How would I be able to load US and Canada maps onto this?
#21
I recieved the widescreen one the other day, took a while to install tom tom 6. after i finally got it working the site i was looking at pushed Version 7 which i installled with no hacks or anything in 5 mins!

so go wide and get v7 works brilliantlly
#22
was wondering if these have the problem where if you let the battery run flat that tomtom gets wiped?
#23
does v7 tomtom work on the non-widescreen v1 navigo?
#24
Does anyone know if the Widescreen version they are still selling @ £70 a version 1 unit?

Cheers

I got the original one for £50, It has turbodog on it and it is very unreliable. How do you put tomtom on it, as i have used a tomtom before and never had any trouble.
#27
Like I posted yesterday I got the widescreen version delivered yesterday and, after spending a couple of hours on it, I managed to get tomtom to work on it (none of the guides I got were exactly the same and all had a stage or two missing - not a problem for those that know how to do this kind of stuff but a bit of a problem for me:oops:).

Well I would have to say Tomtom runs perfectly (and this is the widescreen model) and is much better than the standard navigation software that comes with it. It's a good bit of kit and I would recommend it. I even added extra voices but not had a chance to test them fully yet - but John Cleese seems to be the best so far.

Good deal (both this model and widescreen version)
#28
Well I've got the widescreen SY895 and it's running (with a bit of fiddling) Igo8, TT7 and Navigon 7. I'd say Igo8 is the best all round, but Navigon is great on motorways with it's overhead lane signs. TT7 is looking a bit dated IMHO.

Anyone know if this version 2 has a socket for an external Aeriel ?.... I think the version 1 did

That's where I got most of my info but like I said above it doesn't cover every single step (ie creating the .cdt(?) file that you need to go with the META one. Took me ages to work that out on my own )

But a good start for anyone needing the files/guides.

Ebuyer have also said a bluetooth version/FM transmitter version are due in soon.....

They also commented that V2 was supposed to be more robust than V1 (but they would say that wouldn't they)

No I haven't actually tried one, I'm just going from what I've read, I'll have to borrow my mates & give it a go.

It would be nice to have an aerial socket just in case tho.

You'd better edit that post to remove the link - mods are very sensitive about that site. I think Guv was suspended for posting...
