No it is not

the old version of this was £54.99 and occasionally went down to £49.99. This is the newer mark 2 version which was norammly £60 something .

The old version is no longer availble, so this is the new version for the price of the old version - therefore good deal

Voted hot - may order....

My daughter wants a SatNav as a present - she has never had one before and I know nothing about them. Would this be a good basic one to start with and would she have to buy anything extra to use it?

if this one has the supplied satnav software as the others had ..............TurboDog ,the answer is NO.
unless you were prepared to do something fiddleing with the software , go for a TomTom or Navman.
I bought the Navigo 4.3 and was dissapointed with TD , a few changed reg keys later and I have TomTom ,Igo , Miomap and the dreaded Turbodog working on the same SD card . Great little satnav now .

I've got a Navman pocket pc sat nav. the only problem with it is that if the battery runs out, it loses all the settings and then have to go through installing tomtom on it again. does this have the same issues???

I dont think so ,the Navigo has WindowsCE as the OS but the Navman runs on WM5 . Incidently I may also have the same model Satnav/PDA as you. My first purchase was a PIN 570 , I've still got it and it's a great piece of kit . Some good software for it too and it will get you on the internet using a IOSD wi-fi card .These thing's unfortunetly suffer from software loss once the battery goes flat ,same goes for my Sony PDA running palm .So,as you say I have to re-install the software . So, make sure you keep an eye on it regulary . My 570 runs TomTom 6 with UK & WE map and was great value . The only reason I bought the Navigo was it had the bigger screen but the satnav software was rubbish .
With the 570 , TT in on the SD card so ,I just have to run it and register the file again , this does'nt take long and I'm up and running in no time .

Yep, I got the Navman PIN 570, great bit of kit if you install TCPMP, you can play DivX, XviD, mp3's so it becomes a portable media player too. AFAIK, it runs on WindowsCE 4.2, well mine does anyway. The newer machine have a battery so setting are not lost if power runs out.

The problem I am having with it is that TomTom 6 will not install on it correctly now for some reason. Each time I install now, it does not show up in the list of programs when you click the start key. It used to show up there the first few times I installed it. Now I have to run it from the SD card by using File explorer and going to the directory it is in and launching it from there. I have tried both soft and hard resetting it, but it just won't install correctly.

The second annoying thing is that the backup feature does not work reliably. I have only managed to use it successfully once. Tried it around 20-30 times, but backup failures to restore. Does it work on yours?

Sorry , your right ,it is 4.2 .Yes I have coreplayer[tcpmp] on and loads of other things too like Touch Notes [write notes in your handwriting ] ,XnView Pocket [ photo viewer/slide show], Batti settings [ indicates when your batterys going flat ],Tracky [ load google maps directly onto the 570 and it'll track your whereabouts ].
If you go into settings/today/items theres alist of things to display on your today screen ,is TT not there .
I havn't used the backup , I have losed my programs loads of times when I forgot to charge , it takes about 5 mins to put it all back ,so I wasn't bothered in using it. I am charging it right now , really is a good device , should use it more .
