I have used many GPS navigators and Navigon has the best interface and screen (IMO). Also their maps are updated more frequently than any other GPS's. Road changes updates are usually done within 6 months, while Garmin take over 12 months and I have seen updates on TomTom not happening for 3 years in some cases. It's a very good price for a basic GPS and it will get you to your destination in most cases (I personally don't use them any longer because my manual abilities out-do any GPS every time :)

PS they also have a 4.3" wide screen model for an extra £10, which I recommend over the 3.5" (item 350468913771)

You must be joking...worst GPS ever seen.

Could you say why? Have you actually used one or just "looked at it"?

I had the 40 Essential and I can't really recommend it, I went away in the half term touring and I had quite a few wrong turns and wrong routes. The Navigon Fresh Maps is very limited and you only get one free map update, the safety camera alerts are not 100%, with at least 3 speed cameras not showing up in a 20 mile radius where I live, these cameras have been established for over 3 years. I would try another brand if you want to avoid wasting time and speeding fines.

I will never use it by myself,no way.Better take a paper map with myself...But my friend has one and was using it,so I can tell you-crap! Nokia free maps on mobile are better than this. Poor GPS signal, inaccurate navigation ( shows turn left when you alredy done that 10 seconds before) , slow overall, not all postcodes recognized... TomTom - my favourite and CoPilot for iphone.

Why reviews at Argos and Halfords are so good?

Sliwka - Why reviews at Argos and Halfords are so good?

The same reason why reviews on products at Amazon and especially Ebuyer are so good, being a retailer you would not shoot yourself in the foot by publishing all the bad reviews as no one would buy the product, thats called being clever! The internet is not 100% truth unfortunately!

I've had a Navigon 2200T for the past 3 years, as my job involves travelling across the entire UK and Ireland a good sat nav is essential. Never had a single issue with it, the live traffic updates work well, routes seem spot on and ETA is accurate. Dunno how folk can say worse sat nav ever? This calculates routes much quicker then my old Navman and before that Tomtom.

Might buy this for the latest maps!

I was chuffed to bits when I first got it. But you don't really know until you try it out properly, only after using it did it's failings start to show up. By the way the one I purchased from Argos also had Western Europe maps installed which was not mentioned when I purchased it, so that's a plus.

Hot! I'm after one with European maps but this is a good price for a UK one.

That's not true for amazon reviews. I have left positive and negative reviews at amazon and they were all published, nothing was deleted. Unhappy people tend to leave more feedback than happy customers, so if there are a lot of positive feedback for an item at amazon, this means the item is good. Argos and Ebuyer control feedback, so I wouldn't rely on those too much.

Much prefer my Navigon to my old Tom Tom , Tom Tom is like the iPhone and call of duty - very very popular but not actually the best product in its field . Uneducated people just buy them as its the best known name .

I don't want your pity and it's up to me how I spend my money.

I at least have the money to waste rather than listen to what pathetic waster's like you have to say, And if your picture is a true reflection of you then a sat nav would be a waste of money for you as I'm sure that being that ugly you would be not bother going further than your front door or is it tent flaps?

The Navigon 40 states that a subscription is required for speed camera data. Does the device come pre-loaded with speed camera locations and the subscription is just to update them or does it come initially with nothing.

I've got a Navigon 4350 and can't fault it. Is a little different after being used to a tomtom but has been reliable and always provides the right route.
