Because the price is for businesses and you're not supposed to order unless you're a business. "This site is for business customers only, ordering goods for use in the course of their business. All prices exclude VAT."

I've ordered from this site before and you do normally have to pay VAT.

For some reason it looks like VAT Exemption is part of the deal

All in All Great Price

Home Business is eligible for Neat-ideas order. Just type your name in the business field. At £99.99 inc delivery + Free gift (& 7% Quidco if you wish)... this is a great bargain

Does this mean we have to be registered as a business? Will somebody come checking and/or later add VAT when they realise we are regualr customers? What do you think?:whistling:

Check out this link on the Neat Ideas website

It states
All prices given at Neat Ideas are net prices. The current legal VAT rate of 17.5% applies.

It must be that they are giving us an extra VAT Discount at their own expense
#19
BTW Does anyone know the difference between the F20 and N20 (apart from the F & N)?

Thanks for this. Well I've gone and done it so we'll see what happens. Many thanks also to the original poster for this - I've been looking for sub £100 Navman for quite a while.

N20 has better software which is shared across all of the N range and has alot more features. F20 is also the only Navman which cant use the normal Navman desktop software (SmartST). N20 comes with the desktop software and cable but you have to pay extra for these with the F20. Although the F20 uses a standard mini-usb cable you still have to buy the connectivity kit to get the software to load POIs & speed cameras (other than the preloaded ones which are not complete and out of date).

N20 is far more logical buy but I actually prefer the look and feel of the F20 software if it wasnt missing some features like multi-stop trips.

You can no longer claim the toolkit (12th & 13th only)!

But you can claim an MP3 player if you enter: 1FG-71060.

I have just checked my Bank Statement and I have been charged £117.49.

This means that they have charged VAT on top of the Grand Total.

Please check your statements and then contact them to let them know of this error
#24
Just spoken to Customer Service regarding their mistake and was told they were happy to give me a full refund and will pick it up from me

Yup, it does say on the website that prices don't include VAT, its on top. You can't order things and expect to get them VAT free unless you're a business registered for VAT. Otherwise we'd all be doing it and Gordon would not be pleased.

I know they don't include VAT on the price, but £99.99 showed after confirming the order inc. VAT

I contacted them again today and after I threatened to dispute the transaction with my Bank they gave me a refund of £17.50
#27
So to be absolutely clear - the price charged is actually £117.50 not £99.99 ?

So the only way to get it for £99.99 is to be VAT regististered and claim the £17.50 back through your VAT return which you could also do from any supplier.

For example the Link has it at £114.85 inc VAT which would make it really £97.74 under the £99.99 logic.

Correct they will charge you £117.50

It seems to be an error on their site. It shouldn't say 'VAT Exempt', but £17.50

You should buy it from the Link for that price
#29
i got charged 117.50 as well. i will call them tomorrow.

Not such a great deal at 117.50
#30
just got off the phone. The apologised for the error on the way the price was presented but wouldnt budge on dropping the vat. They did offer to collect and refund though. 117 is about the average price for this so ive decided to keep it.
#31
I too noticed a higher amount charged to my payment card compared to the figure quoted at the final checkout when placing the actual order. Contacted the vendor who had no issue in crediting the erroneous charge back to the payment card, although I did make it clear it was a company credit card. Will post back in a few days when the credit has been received, or not...

Full overcharged amount credited back to payment card within 3 days - just a shame Neat Ideas don't appear to have a consistent resolution policy.
#32
This happened to me also

I contacted them and I threatened to call my bank and to get the £17.50 back through that method.

I was then told that they would be able to refund the £17.50, and 2 days later is was back in my bank account
#33
Tried to tell me they couldn't refund as policy. When I threatened taking up issue with credit card company, I was asked to wait while she talked with her manager. 2 mins later, they refunded the £17.50 to my credit card.
