I have this GPS, is a pretty good bit of kit. works really well.. Battery life is reasonable i had mine a year now and it lasts about 6 hours or so on a lower contrast than default.
Postcode search is a bonus although some rural areas don't work so well (i.e. Cornwall!)

Don't buy the speed camera kit they can be added as custom POI for free,
Europe maps and the 'special' software are floating about on the web somewhere too. All you need then is a USB cable :-D

Great price just reserved as a present for my son.

Where can I find the sites for maps and Cameras etc...:p

http://www.pocketgpsworld.com/uksafetycameras-navman-f.php has the cameras

You need the connectivity kit for this, i downloaded mine from a website (not sure if this was ligit however) i cant seem to find it at the moment ill have another search a bit later :)

****** weather should make no difference to the unit only trouble I've had is whan driving in the square mile in London high buildings narrow roads dont work well with any satnav
#5
Shame there is no where to price match this!
#6
Lmao, apparently you have to Buy the drivers - a 'connectivity pack' is roughly a tenner if you can find it in stock

My previous satnav seemed to take ages to connect when it was raining.

Says it has a pre loaded safety camera database
#9
No for the updates as they are bound to be out of date.

Just be aware of this. My step father bought one of these from argos last week when it was £99.99. However, they decided to give him the F10 instead as "like-for-like", and didnt tell him. He returned it, and ordered another one and the same thing happened! So instead of getting what he thought was a good deal, he was infact getting an inferior model for an inflated price! Im not sure about the legality of what argos are doing
#11
how does this compare to what u get for the extra money on the F40 and F50?

It does have safety camera alerts, but they are not automatically updated, so if you buy 1 that was manufactured 6 months, any new 1s wont be on, you have to download them
I have 1 of these and would recommend it to anyone wanting a basic satnav for travelling around the UK:thumbsup:

I still think the Navigo @ £59 is a far better deal even before you put the Tomtom software on it as it's an MP3 & Video Player too !

Full speed camera database for GB & Europe.

High rise buildings, mountain passes, etc will block most gps signals the answer is to buy a unit that will accept an external gps aerial - they can be bought quite cheaply and give you great reception no matter the conditions. Weather should make no difference to gps.

My brother says you can't beat a tom tom:p no seriously i borrowed one of these from a mate a while back and it did exactly what it said on the can.Not bad for the money i say:thumbsup:

I have the N-Series version of this model (N20), not too much diff, but a cracking unit. Does the job...simple as. And very simple, quick start up. Good build quality as well. Cant go wrong really for a recognised brand name.

Actually the F10 is an 'upgrade' to the F20 (don't get fooled by model numbers). The F20 is getting phased out in placement for the F10. The F10 I believe is touch-screen, F20 has buttons on the side.

Great GPS system, especially at this price! And A+ customer support
#19
The F20 is also touch screen. There are some buttons on the front for 'one-touch' items such as finding petrol stations and car parks.

I have had one of these for just over a year (was £160 when I got it) and it has never been a problem.
#20
Is the s30 model a better buy at £99.99?
#21
I too have had an F20 for over a year and it's been great.
#22
Does the camera alert bleep or is it just a camera symbol on the screen. i currently use a Snooper but am getting a bit fed up with the £5 a month camera update charge.
#23
I have had this model for a year now. Bought at £120. It successfully took me into Chinatown in Soho, from Wembley, without an problems. However, it has a tendency to take motorway routes, even if its further. My UK map is from 2006, but I could not find a later version avsilable. ALso, the speed camera database is rather out of date now. I am not sure if I can update this online for free. I read somewhere you can have your first update for free, but cannot confirm.

As for the connectivity kit... save your money... all it consists of is a usb cable (£1 from poundland) and some software which you can download from their website for free. The power cable in the box only allows you to recharge it from the lighter socket in your car. However, you can use this same £1 usb cable to recharge it via your pc.

It does both, and it displays the distance to the camera, but its not so much of a beep, more of a screech, be ready when it does go off:w00t:
#25
you can get free POI 'updates' including safety cameras from here:

http://www.gps-data-team.com/

you will probably have to register which is £4, so not too bad.

Thanks for that FF

I have the Navman F20 - have found it fantastic after 9 months of solid use - paid £125 for it.

Been all round the uk including some lesser known parts of londen, birmingham, devon, ireland and wiltshire! Have found it faultless, build quality is excellent.

Fast rerouting, great eta indicator and **** of P to use.
#28
I've also had this model for a fair while, my 3rd satnav device and this one the cheapest (£100 when I got it).

The full postcode search is very good. It lacks some of the sophistication of more expensive units (particularly weighting away from motorways (has shortest route) and road blocked re-routing) however it's a very easy unit to use and the majority of time just perfect for what's needed. Excellent vocal directions and clear maps.

The other £60 deal mentioned here is going to be better if you are the sort of person who doesn't mind getting your sleeves rolled up, downloading, troubleshooting and researching. Pushing your unit to it's limits. I've done that with a previous units and it pays dividends (in satisfaction alone as most of the extra features like MP3 player and personal organiser were never used by me.) however if you want a unit that just works then go for this.

If you do European trips look out for deals on the more expensive models with pre-loaded maps though as worth the extra in piece of mind and relaxed journey.
#29
All of the Navman sat navs are on offer at ARGOS but I think the F20 is the best deal...
#30
I got given the f10 too, supposed to be newer model, do the f20 maps work on an f10? nice to european ones

The f10 is actually an S-Series, so none of the F-Series updates will work on it.
#32
Ok i have £100 to either buy a f20 or an s30 or a tom tom one.Which is the best value for money and can europeam maps be added to any of these?

#35
i bought this the other day and was given the f10 too. Looks good!

#36
