Heat given, excellent price for this model (F40) includes TMS traffic module, so it will navigate you around traffic jams :) The F20 model doesnt have this.

Thing i liked about Navman is it tells you what house number you are outside which my Tom Tom does not. Very usefull when you have to find someones house in the dark!

To have a good system with euro maps for just over £100 i think its a steal

The S90 model is available for £165 at Costco this week

Bought this one couple of weeks ago from Microdirect. Recommended, and this is the 3rd one I've tried, although havent used it much.

Handsfree works fine, maps seem accurate, you can add your own POIs. You need a permanent feed for the handsfree to work - ie it wont work off the battery.

Only thing missing is the NAV SmartST software which you need to connect the sat nav to the PC (which should really be included!) Navman are trying to sell this for £15. Get software off ebay for £2 and the cable is a standard 5pin mini USB.

The bluetooth is a module that plugs into the bottom of the sat nav - you can get bluetooth, traffic or bluetooth and traffic - they seem to go for £20-£30 on ebay.

What extras do you get with the S90 model for the extra money ? Also are either of these any good for walkers please, never owned one of these toys so curious as to how versatile they are

Hi,

I cant seem to find any mention of this ability on the specs on microdirects website if it does as you claim then i'd jump at it , however if not its not fit for my purpose.

How does this compare with TomTom One V2 or GO 720 ?

This model does not include TMC traffic but you can add it, better to buy the F50 at £118. The maps are last years so not the newest 2007 maps that are on the S series. Might i suggest either the Mio C510e(europe maps and bluetooth) for £110 which although comes with 2006 maps is easy to 'update' or the Tomtom 710(europe maps and bluetooth) for £145 which can be brought bang upto date using tomtoms 'latest map guarantee'. There is no update for the Navman F40 to add 2007 maps.

Or get the Garmin NUVI 310 with V9 for £119, register your device with garmin and get the update 2008 Europe DVD from garmin to give you european mapping for free.

The Navman F50 with Bluetooth and Traffic for £118 looks like a top deal but just cannot go wrong with a TomTom for the 710 looks good if you can stretch to it.

Hi - Thanks for the advice  I have always wanted the Garmin Nuvi 310 but it seems to only come with UK mapping and I need the full Portugese street mapping too - sorry for being so thick but just wanted to check - are you saying that if I buy this and register with Garmin I can request a free European Mp DVD????? How do you go about getting the DVD? If that is the case then I will definately go for it.

I looked at loads of reviews during last year for the F series (just prior to them discontinuing and changing to the S series). F series all received good reviews across the board. F50 is a fantastic price given it includes traffic module & bluetooth. Also got to love the patrol & parking buttons.

Bit skint this month - is that prive for the F50 a normal price? Very tempted.

YES, you have to register the unit on the garmin website, mygarmin. Might be worth a phonecall to Garmin to confirm before you buy just to put your mind at rest. 0808 2380000 or 01794 519944.

The Bluetooth module here does not give you traffic info, just hands-free. The Sat-Nav is good [I agree about the lack of PC software though] and has all the European maps included as standard.

I got one a few weeks ago and it suits my needs just fine [i.e. it'll get me to South of France this summer] but if you need the Traffic Advisory, you'll need the different bluetooth attachment for teh F40, which isn't in this deal.
