Navman PIN 570 Sat Nav/PDA unit - £99.00

Halfords are currently offering the Navman PIN 570 Satellite navigation unit for £99 which is still on offer at numerous other outlets for double that price. This is far more than the stand alone Sat Nav units and has all the extra benefits of a PDA. It is also most suitable for the TOMTOM software and for £99 it has everything needed to find your way about! These were showing as unavailable online a short while back but are now showing as available. please bear in mind that they are available in store at this price. This is a bit older than the TOMTOM one units but is for the price a baragain and a half! Happy new year!

Bought one of these on boxing day. Installed tomtom, works a treat - despite the bloke in halfords saying "If you install tomtom on it, you will invalidate the warranty" (in his effort to try and sell me the tomtom 1). Never heard anyone speak such rubbish!

Hi guys. I'm new to the forum, but I've been cheekily using the site for months now!

My little brother works at halfords. He got one of these for £85 including his staff discount, and he's well chuffed with it. Says that halfords employee that went on about the warranty is full of crap. There's a hard reset on the device incase anything goes wrong, and all the software is run off the sd anyway.

it's a top notch ppc with a 266 mhz processor, and using the tomtom software easily gets us anywhere (navman software has no postcode search)

basically what you get is an awesome ppc and satnav. Add the tomtom software, and this easily kills the tomtomone.

Confused him by asking if I bought a laptop from PC world and installed anything on it, would it invalidate the warranty - his reply:

:? "Thats totally different?!?!" :?

Also, as I keep saying I am off to NZ soon so the SmartST software will come in handy as tomtom dont do a NZ map so Im leaving it installed, have the tomtom maps on one card and the navman maps on another card - best of both worlds.

Does it come with the Tomtom software or do you have to get this separately?

Doesn't come with TomTom software, you would need to obtain that separately.

But it IS an excellent little unit for the price - BARGAIN!!

Hi Just purchased the PiN 570
Have charged it up and put the GB card in, it locks onto GPS but say's please go to road and will not take any destination you can see the outlying towns but does not go down to road or street level!.
I have not installed any software as it seems to be already installed or do I have to reinstall the maps:?
#12
Please could someone tell me where I could find the TomTom software for this machine?

I had a look on eBay and people on there sell a lot of software for other Navman's ( mainly the 510/520) would this work with the 570 or are they all unique?

Many thanks

Did TomTom work straight away when you tried it?

With mine, it doesnt seem to start the GPS port up. So you need to do this manually before u run TomTom.

The included software seems to start GPS automatically. Any ideas?

I have to go into Start > Settings > GPS > on >

then press the home button (bottom right) instead of OK.

Also mate you will need to do this
start tomtom
tap "Change preferences"
tap "Show GPS Status"
Tap "Configure"
Choose "Other Cable NME GPS"
Set "GPS baud rate to either 9600(works for me) or 4800"

Choose "GPS ON NAVIGATOR" Select on screen

Bear in mind that the first time it starts up it seems to take an age to fix a satellite but once it does the next time it is fast.

Other things i have found out with tomtom 6 that you need to do are this

To get voices to work

Go to the storage Card, go to voices, and copy the voices you want to have to program files/navigator/voices.

to get 7 digit post codes search

Go to the storage Card, copy zip folder to my device program files/navigator/

Yours might work already but these were the fixes for me. hope it saves someone a google search.

I noticed today that they have been withdrawn from the online store but has anybody managed to get one from instore recently as I know they are none available now in our area. If they have all ran out I'll expire the deal to save people looking around.

Bought one last weekend from the Halfords near Sevenoaks, Kent. I was told that they had three in stock.

I've just noticed this has been reduced to £59.99, although whether any branches still have any in stock is another matter though!
