Yup how does this compare to a Tomtom?

I see on some the reviews on amazon are mixed , some say great some say very poor which takes u on longer routes .....i want one which shows me the quicker route and to basically get me to where i want to go

For those who living in N.Ireland or Ireland who are thinking of buying ring the Navman customer service if you can find it on there website. I bought a Navman last year that stated UK and Ireland mapping to find out that it only covers 40% of N.Ireland and Ireland.
#12
I only want England and not Ireland, so sounds good
#13

Dude, I moved from Hampshire to Cheshire in 07 and drove hundreds of miles up and down the country to look at houses. Also drove loads of miles around Cheshire - not an area we knew, looking at houses. My F20 never sent me wrong once.

Went on holiday from Cheshire to south Cornwall in August - again, no wrong turns and no new roads that were not on it.

Do you work for tomtom by any chance?

Sounds a good deal, but I've managed to find my way to work and back without SatNav for past 20yrs. Anywhere else, I either know the roads and where I don't, Google maps works just fine.

I often chuckle at all the cars with SatNav's illuminating on their dashboards, where probably 9 out of 10 drivers are on their regular 'short' journey to work.

You are forgetting that the 9 out of 10 people are also using these as speed camera warning devices.

I too had no problems with maps but a satnav is a great thing to have on roads you don't know due to the fact you can see the turns in the road ahead and can speed up/slow down accordingly. Especially useful on country lanes at night - once you have one, you will see why they are so useful.

well ive never used a satnav in all my years of driving and i have never been caught by a speed camera,,,,, and driving is like alcohol done in moderation its a safe thing to do , i thought speed limits were there for a reason, ive never heard of anyone being done for doing 29 in a 30 limit,,,,,,,

i can see the use in satnavs but wot worrys me is our younger generation is turning into a bunch of drones,,,, my daughter cannot go 20 miles outside where she lives unless satnav is theyre for her,,,, how are people ever going to remember were they have been

well i guess ill be getting her one for xmas then lol

I dont think these should have speed camera warnings , it really bloody annoys me the amount of speeders out there who have no repect for the law , often notice people speeding then slow down as soon as a camera is close , bloody joke warning people!!!

What makes me laugh all these speeders would soon moan if a speeding driver knocked down someone they loved.

I always stick to the speed limit dead on or a little under if other drivers behind me dont like it then tough! often have tons of people passing me by , but sooner that then feel guilty for killing a kid crossing a road

I actually got my device yesterday , not sure if ill send it back yet as i find it more annoying then helpful .... i cant see how you can see bends in the road ahead , your not suppose to be looking at it while driving and if your going that fast that if you need to view a bend in the road before approaching then your obviously speeding.....speeding is not kewl..speeding kills!

yeh, it was all fields round here when you were young wasn't it!

FYI, I've never had a speeding ticket either 'in all my years' of driving (23)

Depends what view you have your satnav on for the road ahead...should be 3d. And I'm not talking about speeding & breaking the law. Many country lanes have a 60mph limit, when you know there is a bend coming up you can slow down more gently before the bend instead of braking hard etc. Not to mention the fact you can see in advance if there is a crossroads or side road ahead etc etc.. I was also talking in general about unfamiliar roads - not your route to work.

As for looking at it when driving, you don't drive with your head facing forward and not moving, most people have a thing called peripheral vision. It's certainly no more dangerous than people smoking while driving, searching around for their cigarettes, trying to find the lighter, then driving along with an ignition device in their hands.
