Same as maplins unit: http://www.maplin.co.uk/Module.aspx?ModuleNo=256536 for £29.99

Cheapest SiRF III chipset I could find.

Maplins reviews are good, although state that Win 7 is not compatible.

DealExtreme photo states theirs IS Win 7 compatible.

Although price IS above customs £18 threshold, DX mark it down under threshold anyway & as yet I've never been hit by charges BUT I guess I have to say this - your mileage may vary.

But this has a SiRF Star III and is half the price.

I've bought two of these and they are a real bargain.

Having had 2 different Bluetooth units used on Laptops and PDAs for about 7 years, I am struggling with why (now they are SO cheap) you would want a specifically USB one, rather than Bluetooth?

With a Laptop or Netbook, a tiny USB Bluetooth dongle is a couple of quid, (if it isn't already built in to the laptop/netbook); and doesn't protrude much at all from the side, whereas this thing sticks out and is likely to get bust off! The Bluetooth receiver then just goes anywhere... in a pocket, or on dashboard. Being Bluetooth, they also work with phones & Smartphones which support them, so are more versatile.

eBay has any number of Bluetooth units way cheaper than this, UK based

Yeah I didn't notice it was out of stock there, but Morgan also sell it at a slightly higher price and most laptops have Bluetooth these days anyway.

I don't know what you are speaking about, but I am on about GPS receivers.

How is it apples and oranges?
It is a GPS receiver, just it has MORE flexibility in use as it is not tied down to plugging in via USB! To be honest I didn't think USB ones were available any more, as they were uncommon and going out of fashion when I bought my first one back in 2005!

If this one is not available, there are plenty more around for little more cost.
